Chinese watches are pretty pieces. Mostly dress types. Unfortunately, they don't instill enough confidence for buyers at above certain price points. And the QC is still lacking as compared to the Swiss. They have a long way ahead but they do have better quality than most dare to imagine. Unfortunately, not so many are 'wowed' by them. At above S$500, most ppl would go Japanese or micro or entry level Swiss/German etc... But BJWF and Seagull are not to be over looked so quickly, they have improved much over the last few years and will only continue to do so down the road. The article won't change many people's views about Chinese watches IMHO. How many here have more than 1-2 pcs? I don't imagine too many. :mrgreen:

I won't change my mind just from reading a link, unless I can establish to myself the reliability of ths report.



That said, I never looked down on Chinese watches. Just because I won't pay beyond a certain amount is a function of my own sense of value for the money, and this applies to everything that requires monetary outlay. Including chai png.

I have 4 pieces. =P

I draw my views from the pieces I used to own and they still have a long way to go to compete at higher price points despite their technical capabilities to produce rather complex pieces like tourbillions.

I am not a fan of fully polished cases generally because if its not done well, the watches turn out looking tacky and cheap. I find their parts finishing lacklusture and feel that they should offer more watches with brushed finishes or a mix of brushed and polished parts.There is a vast room for improvement in the design department, most designs actually try too hard to look european and have an absence of identity.



I think they offer fun watches to experiment and beat around at the lower price point (as little as $500 usd for a tourbillion or $200 for a mechanical chronograph!) but if im in the market for higher end pieces I think I'll take my money elsewhere.
