Solar - Eco Charge Watches .

I purchased a new Citizen Eco Drive recently 'nice piece' mind you & kept the watch for only less than 1 week , i returned the Eco Drive to the retailer for a credit . I got tired of having to make sure im exposing the Eco Drives dial into sunlight & constantly raisng my long sleeves of my shirts , jumpers , coat etc to allow sunlight onto the dial . Sure Eco Drive or Solar are ok in Summer or in Hot weather like in Singapore , were wearing short sleeved T'shirts etc is more common all year around , but in colder weather & with less sunlight , the watch would be getting minimal exposure to sunlight . So with the credit i got another Seiko Kinetic being am active , it recieves plenty of charge & i can keep my long sleeves down & not freeze when theres cold weather .

I could use a Automatic or Battery powered watch , but am talkin about rechargable Quartz .

Can florescent lights charge the watch?

I prefer kinetic too.

I think Solar watches can use all types of light for charge. But if your wearing long sleeve shirts etc , it doesnt get charged .

Charging up ECO drive is much easier than Kinetics. If you have 2 or more Kinetic, charging them up is a pain in the ass, unless u have an induction charger. I currently have 4 kinetics in my collection.

'Agree' if you own a few Kinetic's & dont often wear them , it be best to buy a Seiko Kinetic charger .

I don't really face this problem.. I simply leave the watch on my watch box (it has a clear acrylic cover).. It gets its charges from the natural light and so far no problem even after weeks of not wearing.. Still keeping time well. It charges on any light I think.. Do not necessarily needs direct strong sunlight

Induction charger will do, not necessarily a seiko kinetic charger which is an induction charger just for seiko watches.

K2 has a citizen eco drive charger, basically its just a flourscent energy saver bulb in a acrylic box.



Watch is placed very near to the bulb so the light fully concentrates onto the dial. , and the dial is fully pulled out.



According to Goh, usually takes ard 20-30 mins to go from 2 sec ticking (low charge) to single sec ticking.





I just placed my eco-drive or solar watches on top of a tall cabinet that's 1m of the flourscent tube in my room.



Another fren who works at night only, usually just put his eco drive on his workdesk, says his watch has never tick at 2sec interval b4.
