Tag , Uses Seiko Movement .

You may be familiar with the highly popular Seiko 6s37 movement .  The 6S37 gained much of it’s popularity after the controversy with the Tag 1887 movement.  To sum up the story, Tag introduced the 1887 as an in house movement, which was later revealed to be the same design as Seiko’s 6S37.  I believe that Tag bought the blue prints from Seiko, made some of their own decorative changes and do manufacture it in Switzerland.  It is also rumored that Tag buys other parts such as hairsprings from Seiko.

I have known for sometime now that Seiko sells & supplies many of its parts & movements to other watch companies , but to what extent ?

The SII (Seiko Instruments Inc) movements are clones of those made by Seiko for their own uses. No idea how big their business is, though it's confirmed that Tag was using such, and I think some of Invicta's Chrono's also use the same. Further, some boutique brands in Japan and outside use the SII's as well.



Still, the Miyotas (Citizen) are more popular it seems.

There's quite a lot of watches using Seiko movement.. Examples like NH25. Some models of Vostok-Europe uses NH25 movement.

then again....... a lot of companies take eta movements, touch touch here and there.. voila " XXXXX CAL 123 " :mrgreen:
