Seiko "Land Monster" SNM035: PROJECT WATCH

Seiko "Land Monster" SNM035: PROJECT WATCH
So a few days ago, I bought an SNM035 from this sales thread: http://forums.seikoclubsg.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5120

In my excitement, I rushed and didn't scrutinise the photos. When I met the buyer, I was distracted and didn't realise some of the markers had paint missing AND there was some significant scratching on the bezel. Met Seiko Siao later that day and it was he who pointed it out to me. I messaged the seller but couldn't get a refund. So caveat emptor, guys!!

The next day after conversing with badern and cosmograph and showing them photos, decided to turn this into a project watch. Bought enamel paints to try to match the colours and went home again to remove the paint.

But after taking out all the paint from the markers of the bezel... realised the naked bezel actually looked pretty good! Polished out some of the scratches and here are the pics:

I might leave this naked for a while till I get bored then apply the paints back in the bezel markers.

Used to impose a rule on condition ratings using the famous TZ guidelines but nobody using it.

Based on what you describe, it's at best 75.

Oh well, once goods and money exchange hands, deal's done.

On the bright side, you learnt something and another watch to mod without remorse :)

Maybe you should do a post in the market feedback forum, as a heads up to the others.

Defintely look appealing with naked from your pictures. :)
Re: Seiko "Land Monster" SNM035: PROJECT WATCH
Dont you just hate it when you buy a watch , then bring it home only to then notice any imperfections . :(

Anyway the watch looks good with naked bezel 8-)

Indeed I do!! Minor imperfections, I don't mind so much... comes with the territory buying a MILF watch... VIRGIN watches, I'd send it back :p

But in this case, really it was a newbie mistake. Sigh. Only consolation is that it does look quite nice naked...

And I don't want to post in the reporting thread lah... I really don't think he's much of a regular here so not much point.
Re: Seiko "Land Monster" SNM035: PROJECT WATCH
make a rainbow bezel , one colour for every number :D
Re: Seiko "Land Monster" SNM035: PROJECT WATCH
that's the issue. so normally when i meet a seller i would try to find a place that is bright enough for me to check if it really fits the description from the seller.

but well then again, you have turn it around and make it fiercer looking right bro?
Re: Seiko "Land Monster" SNM035: PROJECT WATCH
never mind, naked is always better ;)

I always try to keep in mind when buying 2nd hand piece: "buy the seller". When price is too good to be true, chances are there's some hidden problem which will pop out later on. If there's even a slightest hint of hesitation from you, just walk away. my 2 cents :)
Re: Seiko "Land Monster" SNM035: PROJECT WATCH
may be can try luming the bezel...not that i know how or have the lume materials

That's a very good idea. Badern and Chronograph suggested that to me too. :) But they suggested making it coloured lume. In sunlight the colours should match the original scheme.
Re: Seiko "Land Monster" SNM035: PROJECT WATCH
Martinator, I know the point is that there seems to be some misrepresentation of condition. One man's 9.5 is another man's 7.5, in the absence of a standard scale I suppose. Just to share, I bought a brand new seiko (NOS though), with metal bezel and painted markings. One soak in my bath tub and several of the markings fell off

So I suppose it does happen even without abuse

What did you use to remove the paint? I like the look of your bezel without paint, and will probably do the same to mine...
