Seiya Japan ??

I made enquiries with Seiya Japan , # 2 e'mails in fact with regards to a possible purchase . This No to reply :?

At times he has been known to be unwell and then delays to responses happen.. I think his wife then tries to fill in..

yup, Seiya san's health isn't too good for the past 2 years.

Maybe you can try Katsu-san from Higuchi. Very prompt service, bought my SD600 and Stormtrooper from him.

If something goes wrong & things always do in life , what then ? If the bloke is unwell , maybe he should make a note on his website ? Advising no enquiries , just taking orders only "due to ill health" anyway i wish him well & good health .

I do understand your frustration.. If you do a search of the watch forums you will find he is very reputable.. The watch collecting fraternity have been fortunate over the years to have folk such as Seiya and Higuchi sell to folk JDM models outside Japan..



Anyway, all the best in your searching for the watch you are after.. but if JDM is what you are after, then online is your only option unless you go to Japan..

I would also recommend Time Garden (time-g) from Rakuten.co.jp... It's definitely workable, though the shop owner is not as fluent in English as the big 3.



Though, if anything happens to the watch while under (Japan-only) warranty, you will need to take care of it directly with the watch maker (either in Japan or the agent where you are); Higuchi and Seiya have a history of helping people who purchase from them with stuff like that.



Then again, Higuchi & Seiya do charge ~10-20% more than it would cost you to go directly to time-g... It's a trade-off. *shrug*

I tried buying from rakuten before but it seems they do not accept overseas credit cards. :?:

Time-g accepts Paypal. Been a while since I last purchased from them, but they've given me no issues when I did. :)

MIKER, apologies for the semi-hijack. Sad to see your experience hasn't matched what many others have experienced when going to Seiya (both from this and mother int'l forums), for whatever reason.



Do note that while this is something that he's done for a long time, I don't believe this is / was his career (unlike Higuchi who actually runs a B&M store in Oita); he's a one-man show and when he's unwell just won't be able to deal with everything. Still, you hear almost no bad experiences with him except for a lack of response to order enquiries in some situations.



On ordering from a B&M, I have no issues with doing so... Except that Singapore prices for Seiko's are, to be frank, inflated. In many cases for more expensive watches, you can get watches shipped from Japan for less (not an inexpensive country). Granted, the SG market is much smaller, but I'm still going to look to save that last 15% if I can.



I've ordered almost all the new watches sight unseen online (from reputable sellers), from Seiya, Higuchi, Chino, Rakuten stores, from Yahoo! Japan stores, eBay stores, WUS or other forums' sellers, chronograph.com, 21jewels, and that's only a few of them. Only ever had an issue with one of them (a discontinued OS300), which the seller was willing to help get fixed (in Japan) until Irene at Big Time helped get it shipped to the factory instead.



I have gone to Big Time (Sims Ave only) a fair bit, bought 4-5 watches there. Pleasant people and the discount given is pretty fair in my view (more for 'regulars' ;)). But I'm still open to ordering online - the SD600 I got new for much better than I'd get here! :P



Oh well, different strokes for different folks, courses for horses, that sorta jazz. Just as long as you enjoy it! :lol:

[color=#00BF40]I've bought a few watches over the years from Seiya. I think SingPost tracks everything he sends ( :shock: ) because I was hit with GST for all of them.



Seiya declares the price in JPY on the package & I had to pay the postman before he handed the package over to me.



So you might want to factor in the GST cost when buying from Japan.

The GST issue aside, the packages always arrived very quickly, typically about 4 days to arrive from Japan.

another possiblity is that miker's emails went into the spam/junk folder. anyway there are lotsa sites ard to buy from...can try rakuten also.
