[Review] Credor GCAY996

[Review] Credor GCAY996
My first purchase of 2013.

First of all, it's the Credor GCAY996 circa 1995 powered with the 4S79A movement. There isn't much info on this model since it's a 90s model and not a popular one, so it's not well documented on the usual Seiko sites and forums.

It's not a very big watch at 37mm with a slim case profile since it's a manual winding movement. Been a while since I last handled a pure manual winding watch.

The dial is beautiful, with power reserve on the left and sub seconds at the bottom.

A simple, no frills case back with some stains to clean.

The case is slim, 1 of the slimmest in my collection, although there are slimmer manual winding Russian watches.

Decorated case back cover, not well finished but still it's decorated. As compared to a Seiko Sumo with a normal case back: http://www.thewatchsite.com/index.php?topic=23537.0"http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8510/8517613508_cbdb83c2af_c.jpg" alt="" loading="lazy">

Lo and behold, the 4S79A, what a beauty. I love manual winding watches because the entire bridge is exposed with Geneve stripes. Piece of art. Now I wish I have a transparent case back....

The entire case is stainless steel except the bezel plated in gold.

Lastly, here's a group shot of my under 40mm watches.

Beautiful pieces, the Credor just stands out along with the Blue Spark...

The mechanical movement is a work of art alright.

Thanks :)

Enjoying it as I'm replying...
Re: [Review] Credor GCAY996
dial is very nice but the bezel spoilt the overall look.

"eguy899"

dial is very nice but the bezel spoilt the overall look.

Because of the gold tone ?

I think gold dial + ss bezel will look weird though. This combo is a two tone design, so I think it's ok like most t/t watches. A classy and elegant piece.

The markings are very subtle thou, hardly noticed the markings unless you pay close attention.
