Have You Guys..

Have You Guys..
reached a point when you totally lost the 'interest' in watch collecting?

I did, once.

It just happened, totally lost interest overnight, for almost 2 years

just focused my directions in shoes & jeans.

The same thing happened to a friend of mine as well, who is also an avid vintage omega collector.
Re: Have You Guys..
I think I'm going through that phase as I slow down on acquiring new pieces and also controlling on impulse purchases.

So that's kinda like "losing interest" as there's nothing nice to hoot, the feeling of flipping the old pieces.

Re: Have You Guys..
I'm at that stage now. I'm contemplating selling off some of my pieces. Starting with my seiko's.

Re: Have You Guys..
Not yet... hopefully not so soon.

i still hv to collect a GS :(
Re: Have You Guys..
In general, part of the reason of this loss of interest in hobbies, might probably be due to career work overload or at home.

While hobbies can be relaxing, there can still be some residual stress that you may feel over taking the time and energy to do them.

Re: Have You Guys..
My interest is there , but i aint a watch collector . ;)
Re: Have You Guys..
It happened to me in early 2011 n I start flipping my favorite babies(watches). A phrase whereby career path isn't there. Watch interest die off due to e fact I am at a cross road. Its weird. All I ve in my mind is what e heck w all this watch horology thingy that stick in e mind for e past 5yrs? Back in 1999 to 2006, I don't even wear a watch unless I'm in Camp !
Re: Have You Guys..
i myself seem to have interest in many things though (even if i couldn't afford it now). Things like clothings (jeans shirts etc etc.), shoes, camera, pc and watercooled pc 8-)

after some time i tend to lose interest in it and gain interest in another, and sometimes it just goes round and round.

there will always be forums and online resources for different interests so i will spend my time reading about it

and after going a few rounds i will just find myself knowing more and more :D
Re: Have You Guys..
already interest die down liao... more interested in cycling now :D
Re: Have You Guys..
Died down for a while, focused on shoes, jeans and leather crafts for abit but I think the watch bug came back.
Re: Have You Guys..
Well... Same as others, didn't die down just like that or anything. Work just got more stressful and ate into ability to spend time on and enjoy other things. Not happening again! :)

Then again, do need to look at paring the collection a bit... I've worn maybe 12 different watches in the last 4 months... Others are well underutilized, and I don't web remember all of them I have. :? :| Then again, too lazy to spend the time deciding which to sell, taking pics, etc. :P ;)

Sorry for raising your hopes like so. :P anything above 1k not going anywhere, Credor included. (though must say, like your gold-tone one lots! 4S79?)

Probably going to be those under $500, which I got multiples of. Bullets, 1 knight... one of the blue Trek Monsters? One of the 4S dress watches? Stargate? A Samurai or two? *shrug*. Way too lazy. ;)

I can totally relate to that. I started with computers. Always tinkering, fixing, upgrading, and buying parts and stuff. Then one day I just stopped caring. If one goes bad it goes to the shop but I barely use them. On my iPhone and iPad more anyway. Then came guns. Joined forums, went to shooting ranges, travelled to gun shows, bought a couple, cleaned and maintained them regularly and got a concealed carry permit. Then one day I just stopped caring. Now it's watches. But the difference is it's been over a year. Now I feel more confident about opening them up. I also have a good relationship with my watch guy. I'm buying more tools too. This time going to do my own reluming. I was successful with doing my own restoration work and feel like I can go out and buy more poorly modded watches and restore them back to original.
Re: Have You Guys..
