hello all, today i tried removing the shroud to clean the interior but accidentally stripped the hex screw head..now it is round instead of hex..any idea how to remove the screw?

For bigger screws can use a puncher n knock on 1 area in anti clockwise direction...but for small screws i tnk better send to watch maker...i believe they r veri familiar with such tngs

i did use an allen key, i removed 2 screws successfully but failed on the third one..

hmm, lets wait for other tuna owners to see if there's a solution for it..else TS will be ur last resort

does a bigger allen key fit inside?



if not, try to tilt the allen key on an angle which it is in the hole.

use the L-shaped allen keys and put the short end into the hole, and while applying pressure on the tilted allen key turn using leverage on the longer arm



all you need to do is get the screw loose then you should be able to get it out.



either case, you will still need to go TS and get some new screws... or you can get some aftermarket/custom screws I saw here (no affiliation):

initially i used a 1.5mm then later used a slightly bigger 1/16 inch..now the next bigger size is too big..i am thinking of using a strong adhesive to bond the screw and the key to turn it..

you could try WD-40 the screw edge and let it sit upright.. WD-40 has very low surface tension, so it should be able to seep down to the screw threads, but it takes time.



then try the allen key trick i mentioned.

There is an adhesive for use with stripped heads. Can't remember the name. Go Google "removing stripped screws" and see what turns up.

seems like most of them recommend jb weld which is nt available locally..i'll head down to ts on monday and hear what they say first.

an update to the stripped screw:

went to TS on 18/02 to seek help. The technician said could use drill to remove the screw but might leave some scratches on the shroud, so left the watch at TS for them to do the work. 22/02, received call from TS that the screw has been removed and ready for collection. 23/02, collected the watch. Shroud has a few hairline scratches added to it but not very visible but my scratchless caseback got many hairline scratches to it.. the cost for removing the screw is $26.75

Thanks for the update and I'm glad they were able to drill out the screw without any further issues. 8-)



Last year I bought a 600m golden Tuna with a few issues, e.g. incorrect screws and one of them has broken while trying to remove it :twisted:







Fortunately I received help from another Tuna collector and he was able to drill out the broken screw without damaging the threads :D



This is how it looks now:





However, many thing could have went wrong so I know what kind of trouble you went through...

Sometimes I wish I can save all the trashed tunas in the world! Lol!
