Looks there hasn't been much discussion here in SCS abt the Seiko 6138.

So I decided to start this topic to specifically target 6138 users and wannabes .

If u know of a good 6138 deal, pls also share it here ....



Here's my 6138-8020 "Black Panda" (on SGP case and Stealth NATO strap ) . I believe the hands and dial are original, pls let me know if u think otherwise.

I do agreed with lunarin bro.... only on UFO afaik.... actually the offical name for this 6138 is "Yachtman"



But if you go further back to 6139.... hehehe... all models have.... here is my little post a while back....

So anyone knows the actual water resist rating for the "non 70m rated" 6138s ?? If I send a 6138 for water resist test at which ATM should I request it to be tested for ?

Being an old piece.... very few had gone to test for water resist.... WR is perform when you have change all the gaskets... many had gone to 10ATM (330 feet) pressure test but in actual case most will start to leak before 99 feet.....



Wu bo 70m wr on the dial.... all 6138s are rated at 70m. ;)

None of my 6138 have tested except one of my 6139 which is being tested at USA till 10atm pressure test bo water one.... in a pressure chamber..... afterwhich the crystal will crack.... which is later replaced.... locally I dun know who can do the wr test.... :?:



I feel that 6138s are meant to be worn on land so their wr is not so important.... if you feel wr is important then go for diver watch.... I'm good to go as long as the crystal dun go foggy from cold-hot environment can liaoz.....

Agreed that testing for 10ATM is an overkill, I'll be happy if my 6138s are slightly water resistant (ie 3ATM) to keep out the humidity, rain/water splashes .

Mystery ....



Says 6138-6010 .... I originally thought it was a 6138-8010 (Grail ??) . Hands seem to have been replaced. Lug size is 18mm (not 19mm)





But I am unable to find any reference for 6138-6010 ?!?!?!?



Side-by-side with 6138-8020 (on the right) ...





Anyone can reveal more info ???

the dial is all refinished it seems, look at the paintwork

If it was originally a 6139 helmet, someone must have had lots of time to mill of portions of the case ...

i doubt its a 6139 helmut's case.



this case is more anugular on the front.

I think the case looks more like a citizen 8110, but the citizen has a knob at 10 o'clock ...

that's my guess as well, a citizen 8110 case.



i had tot of a 6138-8030 case but the lug area looks too angular.

if its on the normal thin Paros rally straps,yes, the strap is too thin for the chunky head but we are using the thick 3mm red stitch Paros strap & it works perfect with the chunky top :D

yea, i have mine on the thin paros and honestly, after a while, the leather will get too soft and "sticks" to your wrist after some wearing.
