Hi guys! Was introduced by siLence from watchuseek, so here I am!

I am looking for some watch recommendations,

-white dial

-simple

-small seconds at 6 oclock

I'm looking for a manual wind watch, auto is fine, but not really interested in quartz.

I don't exactly have a budget in mind..but what's the lowest prices I should expect? I'm only a student!

I actually have a watch in mind, the tao-053yd from Tao international. But the problem is..its a Chinese seagull movement, and I will get no one here in sg offering servicing for such a movement (or are there?), hence I am thinking twice about getting the tao..any advice in this?

but i guess it explodes ur budget ;)

Hmm.... U hv posted the thread in the wrong section. I hv many models ring my mind, but I now using mobile, hard to attach pics.

If Swiss movement is on your radar, something with a Unitas 6498 comes to mind.

another one i can think of is Russian

they have got nice classic watches with sub second, manual winding.

Anyway, below 300, i can only think of tiong movements. Un-tiongs like russians or swiss... no idea liaoz...

Yeah hahah only tiong watches? Hmm but ill keep looking! Thinking of dropping by A.cube, never know, may stumble upon a really nice watch which fits my criterias!

yeah, only CHinese or Russian fits ur bill at the moment.

Actually..since I'm a student and all..maybe a long lasting quartz would suit me better..

Maybe I should invest in a mechanical/auto down the road when I can 'handle' the responsibility hahah

Hmm actually i may be changing my criteria.. quartz does seem quite attractive, especially with the fact that i won't be able to service any of the tiong watches here in SG, and that good mechanicals/automatics are way out of my budget!

Any opinions?

it's all up to individual.

you can start with a quartz then move on to a mechanical lor :)

the Tao is indeed nice, the actual dial colour is sort of a vintage newspaper creamish grey colour

used to have 1 of this

oh, the new models are not blue hands anymore?

wasted :(

D: the tempting tao!

The reason why i wouldnt get it is because i will not be able to service it and make sure it lasts throughout my life! even if i could, singapore doesn't have a tao shop offering spare parts..

Does anyone know if i'm wrong? Is there any shop that offers general servicing for any watch? What about spare parts? Should i be concerned?

I know its only a 80 dollar watch..but :P

Thanks for all the recommendations! I think ill pop by a.cube to check out all the brands (Seiko, orient etc) before I decide!

And the swiss watches will be available to.me when I start work! :P
