How to deal with a fogged up watch?

Saw many methods online.



I personally opened the caseback, wipe the crystal inside out, put it under the hair dryer treatment. 2 months have past and the moisture is back again. I dont want to risk spoiling the watch because it is a vintage quartz.



Anybody has a suggestion?

u need to change the seals... or if the seals are still good, apply some silicone grease on the gaskets before resealing it (after u have carried out the hairdryer routine).



silicone grease is hydrophobic, meaning it will repel water/moisture and this should slow the moisture from getting in.

Bro, mineral glass, sapphire(be pretty surprised if it was) or acrylic? Other thing is the watch subject to a high variation in temperature change? Wonder if it's has to do with a combination of lower quality glass and the humidity/temperature changes. Was having this convo recently with friends and none of us know but can only suspect.



If watch is meaningful, then maybe get a new aftermarket glass? Would AR coating from a glass manufacturer here in singapore help? Heard about this problem but tends to be with lower end watches from what I know and hence the hypothesis above. :|

The watch i'm talking about is a 7548 quartz diver. Not some sentimental piece but this can be classifed as museum grade. :D I am pretty sure the caseback gasket is replaced new. I am suspecting it is a crown gasket. I applied silicon grease to the caseback before, should I do it for the crown?



As for the glass, i am guessing it is a mineral glass. No original replacement liao. :lol: Crystal gasket no need grease one right?

Besides the back case oring. The next possible place where moisture can seep in will be definitely the crown stem oring. Or the chrono pushers orings should ur piece is a chrono.

stem would be good to grease, but dont put too much.



bro.. just drop it off at TS and pay them $36 for a pressure test. they will change all the seals for u.

save your time from trying to troubleshoot where the leak could be. ;)

bro,iirc even with others(or even mine) 7548 thats with old harderend crown gasket , seldom would there be the fogged up issue(even in rainy/monsoon days)



would it be the differences of the humidity during the time you diassemble and assemble the watch? maybe can unscrew the crown and put in into a tupperware with silica gel or also can use uncooked rice...

I put it in an airtight box with silica gel last night. Will check the progress later.

I left a watch with case back off in my dry cabinet for a week, didn't work.. but I guess the humidity isn't low enough. or the moist is struck between the crystal and the movt..
