Newbie question about Sumo accuracy
Hi guys,



Sorry for the noob question. Tried googling for answers but seems like most experienced 'lost' time rather then 'gained' time (again, sorry for the noob terminology, please feel free to correct me).



I've been monitoring my Sumo for the past four days and so far it is faster by 25 seconds. Is this within specs?

My new Sumo has lost approx 12 seconds in past 2 days , but from what i understand . Its normal to lose or gain 5 seconds daily , unlike quartz movement , Automatics are rated on a daily basis for loss & gain "correct me if am wrong" as am not a expert .

You can try to compensate at night by leaving the watch in various positions, for eg:



1) if fast, try to put the watch in crown up or crown position



2) if slow, try to put the watch in face up or face down position



Try the above and see if it improve the "overall" accuracy but if it still bother you can send the watch for regulation.

Thanks Triodeman for the info. I heard the same from a friend and am gonna try it out. May be I'll send it for regulation since it's a new purchase and covered by warranty?

Its well within specs , i wouldnt even worry about regulating it honestly . Chances are as the watch is worn on your wrist more , it will possibly get better . The varience is 5 to 10 secs per day , so mine & yours is runnning spot on . ;)

How long have you been wearing your Sumo ?



Usually new watches runs slightly faster and it will get more accurate as you wear it... just something that most Seiko owners observed so far..

Thanks Miker for the reassurance! And I was thinking of suggesting you to get yours regulated here before heading back down under. Looks like it won't be necessary =p



Hi roo7, I've been wearing it from last Saturday, so it's about a week now. I'll be wearing this everyday and trust it'll get more accurate with wear, thanks.

No probs "Funksoul" , dont think i wasnt thinking the same for moment . But upon closer inspection of seconds gained / loss , my & your Sumo are running within spec . Once they losen up somewhat , lets hope they get even better accuracy .
