Need advice pertaining quartz chronograph

Need advice pertaining quartz chronograph
Hi all,

Need some guru advice cos my old tissot quartz chronograph is not moving at all thou it's still able to keep time. Is this an indication that it's time for me to change the battery? Pardon my noob question cos this is the first time I noticed this odd behaviour thou I have changed battery a few times (watch was totally dead for last few times).

Thanks.
Re: Need advice pertaining quartz chronograph
In comparison to Japanese quartz Chrono movement, SWISS quartz Chrono movments made by ETA is generally very power hungry. Lets say you only use the Chrono function once in a month, a fresh new RENATA battery shall be able to last you roughly about 15mths. If you never played with the Chrono funtion since your last battery change, a fresh new RENATA battery shall be able to last you more than 18mths.

Should your Chronograph cannot funtion properly:

1. If the main Chrono needle doesn't move at all after youpressed the activation button, there's a possibility that either the Chronograph contact had oxidization built up, due to leaked vapour over long period of years, and degration of the inner rubber gasket. Causing it to have contact problem. Another extreme possibility shall fall onto the Chronograph mechanism, as the Chronograph function was not used for a certain time.

2. If the subdial doesn't move at all, it's possible that the mechanism linked to that particular subdial mat have clogged with dirt or internal rust due to vapour leak. This had happened to my a few of my SWATCH Irony Aluminium Chronos.

It's better to let the watchmaker open up your watch and see if the IC had been spoilt by the leak of the batteries which had dead without your notice.
Re: Need advice pertaining quartz chronograph
My symptom is totally no reaction when I press the start stop buttons. I'm not a frequent user of chronograph and seriously to be frank bought it purely for aesthetic purpose. Whereas comparing to my wife's piece (ours went thru same number of batt change just that mine is slightly few weeks ahead of hers'), her chronograph still function normally.

Any idea if K2 is able to fix tissot? Cos intending to visit him for a purchase too
Re: Need advice pertaining quartz chronograph
K2? No new things came in lately leh... Except that encik Goh mentioned that the P.I stocks for the new divers MIJ shall be expected in few weeks time...

As for repair, he should hv no problem. As the ETA quartz chrono model is quite easy for him to source. Hopefully ur case is just the contact issue, just cleaning shall do. Or else, may cost u more than 2 blue bills for the change of the movement.
