How tough is the 6309-7049 diver?

Wore my SBBN-6309 mod today on silicone.







As comfortable as silicone is, the problem with them is that it can be too flexible to a point where, if at the right angle; it can push back the springbars and then... (u know what happens next)



This was what happened today. I was playing with my son and his friend when I suddenly felt little fingers grab hold of my strap.

Before I can react I heard a loud THUD on the tile floor! (sounds like when u drop a big MAG LIGHT torch)

I was standing up too, so it was more than 1m above the ground!



My heart stopped when picked up my 6309... Sapp xtal cracked? Hands fall off? Watch stopped???

BUT it was perfectly fine; ticking away showing the correct time.

No scratches on sapp xtal. No dents on case. Hands still firmly on.



I fixed back my silicone strap and strapped it back on my wrist with a PHEW!

That's a tough watch!

(I just checked the time and it is still correct) :D

The sound when it dropped was a very solid THUD!

it didn't sound like a watch dropping.



This morning I checked again. The timing still good.

quite amazing these lower cost movements to be so tough, but yet multi thousand dollar high end movements cannot. hmm

I've read stories on the international forums about 6309 surviving helicopter crashes and action in the field.



It sounds impressive, but it really only hit home when it happened to me.

Watch flung from more than 1m high and landing on solid tile floor.

Not a scratch.



I dun think the 7s or 6r movt can survive.

YES! the sbbn007 dial has the same feet location as the 6309. Do it's a direct drop-in. No mod necessary.

Why is it so? That's bcos the the 7C46 is based on the 6309. They use the same mainplate. :) (that's what I read)



BUT the hands from the sbbn007 will not fit the 6309 :(

The holes on the quartz handset is bigger than auto ones.

The hands on my mod is from the Mapmeter and the second hand is from skx diver.

Movt. can withstand but case sure bye bye one..... :lol: :lol:
