[SIC]Reviews/Lobangs for Victorinox Swiss Army(VSA)

[SIC]Reviews/Lobangs for Victorinox Swiss Army(VSA)
Had looked online at a few forums and for some reason there isn't much discussion about Victorinox watches. And I'm not too certain why.

I have a quartz chronometer that I had picked up a few years ago at one of FJ Benjamin's annual sales. It was my daily watch for a couple of years and it took a serious beating. But it never complained. I'd hit the crystal so hard that one edge has a small chip but the black PVD on the bezel never flaked; still as black as ever and no exposed metal. The crystal has a few faint scratches from the many times I'd been careless and smacked the watch against walls and metal posts. But overall, it still looks and works great!

I'd recently had its battery changed and it's still beating as hard as ever and still wears well. Consensus on most other forums seem pretty positive but for some odd reason, no one really comes out and talks about the Vic's they own. What about you? I'm already eyeing a new automatic Victorinox that I hope to get soon, and I'm proud to have my V's and S's play nice together.
Re: Any feelings about Victorinox?
Always thought VSA watches are of similar build as chinese watches, with folded links, HEL etc etc....until i got myself a VSA classic chrono model

Man...i tell u...my perception of this brand took a 100% change!

I was surprised to feel the heft of the watch with solid links & SEL!

The finishing on the case is good, detailings are not spared, The dial layout is good, hand proportions are good, not too thick or skinny but just nice, the overall dial proportion is very pleasant.

Lumewise, still decent but of cos, we cannot really compare to a seiko lume.

I was trying to sell this recently but at the same time, i was hesitant, it was almost sold but the bracelet did not fit the new buyer hence i withdrawn the watch & decided to keep it.

VSA Alpnach chrono(panda dial) will be on my list, together with Divemaster 500 in near future

black eye panda

the secondhand is very nice, taking the concept from helicopter propellor blades
Re: Any feelings about Victorinox?
i know I'm not a pvd/dlc person this gunmetal VSA Dive Master 500 chrono is very very nice, had a hands on session at mustafa a while ago & I'm poisoned even more....sigh. Available in quartz & auto variant.

These are some of my favourite Dive master, in blue dial, s/s case, quartz

blue dial, gunmetal case, automatic

deep maroon red dial, gunmetal black case, automatic

Re: Any feelings about Victorinox?

This Gun-metal PVD chrono is the Quartz model. If i'm not wrong, WR is more deeper.

This one is the only Gun-metal PVD mechanical version i know, WR shallower @ 100m.

I saw that in a magazine ad and was attracted to it. But after my last experience with dlc, I'm not so sure about a dlc/PVD watch. Maybe I go mustafa hands on a bit first.

This series has an automatic... but the chrono is only quartz... wasted... but looks very good!

VSA really does have some very nice designs... could it be that their marketing is actually working against them in that people see them prominently in the shops BUT don't know what the brand represents?

1st mindset to this brand, is actually their knives and such so probably they shrugged off the idea of their watches?

Quartz chrono but in pvd, hmmm, i am curious of the model

Is urs a VSA or just Swiss Army?
Re: Any feelings about Victorinox?
Have a look:

Can see how bashed up the bezel is ard 10 o'clock... See the chip on the crystal ay 11 o'clock too... a lot of nicks and dings but the coating's never chipped! You should see the edge of some other parts of the bezel; all dinged and gouged and no chipping.

I think I paid just... $200+ for the watch... UP is more than double, I think. Wasn't prepared for the sale so this was a rather impromptu buy. No regrets tho.

No wonder that sad face la...

But that USD$485 one was used for how long? This USD$680 one is less than 2 month ley...

Or if you still prefer to wait... wait for Ashford.com to drop their BNIB one to around USD$7++ lor... which i have seen twice in the past 3mths.
