Grail no more!! An unveiling...

Grail no more!! An unveiling...
Hi guys,

Recently I had the opportunity and good fortune to finally acquire one of my grails.

It was actually quite bittersweet as I am also going through a tough phase in my life. I just had to undergo 2 surgeries on my right knee and currently I have been hobbling around on crutches for past 2 months. On top of that I am also on IV antibiotics :(

So the grail really put a big smile on my face and cheered me up considerably. The package came in a couple of weeks ago and because of its price I had to contribute 7% to our economy

Oh well... At least it's finally here :) Join me for the unveiling

Here is the box

Prospex inside ! (pls ignore the tubes on my arm)

Sporting my Darth Tuna for the unveiling!

So what is it?

Yup, Badern finally has the SD 600m diver! SBDB 001!

The watch is a used item and it had the normal scuffs while the bracelet had slightly deeper scuffs and lines.

I immediately put the watch on a pair of newly arrived 24mm isofrane strap that I had purchased just for this beauty 8-) . The main reason was to avoid more scuffs on the bracelet when I hobble around on my crutches. The other reason was to start on my DIY polishing and buffing to remove the scuffs.

Here is the beauty on isofrane. Looks really good and wear very well IMO. The isofrane is really worth it's price.

After a few days of polishing and buffing both the bracelet and case I was happy enough to pop the bracelet back on the watch. I must say I am very pleased with the improvement. ;) (and my work lol)

The watch does not look NIB but still looks very good!

The SD 600m is a really high quality watch especially when I look at the amazing sweep of the second hand! The watch wears very high on the wrist and has a good presence even though it's not that heavy due to the Ti case.

I am really happy that I manage to finally get my grail. The next step is to get Sinn straps and try it on the beauty.

Thanks for reading guys!
Re: Grail no more!! An unveiling...
Very nice, Badern.. Did you get in a fight to get that one.. Couldn't help noticing the knee brace and IV tubing..

Thanks Tony. That would have a been a great Wis story but alas that's not true.

I tore my Right ACL (knee ligament) earlier this year and went for the surgery a couple of months ago but the knee became infected and hence i have to be on IV antibiotics at the moment.

Hi bro. The end link is taken out from the watch case . The thing jutting out with the Allen screw on it is actually part of the watch case. The screw is used to tighten it loosen the bezel. It's unique but a cause some problems in finding a good strap.

Re: Grail no more!! An unveiling...
A solid catch. Sorry to hear about the knee and operation, health is the most important.

First that I have seen an SD600 on isofranes. Does it sit well? Can't tell from the pictures! Imagine that it difficult for it to fit nicely. :)

It sits very well and holds the thick case nicely.

No problem with the fitting as well. The drilled lugs make it easy to change strap.
Re: Grail no more!! An unveiling...
Badern, I knew you will get the SD600 and there you had done it! ;)

Strangely, your torn leg look serious then the last time I saw you :?: :?:

Yup my leg got worse after surgery :o

What strap are you using ?

What strap are you using ?

Is your leg on the mend now? It will take at least a year before you can compete again and I know you can.

Well, that strap is a curve end silicon strap which did not last long enough. It broke last month and the watch is back on its stock bracelet.

I am looking at getting a sinn rubber plus the mod tuna bracelet clasp as replacement. 8-)

The sinn u1 straps fit the sd600 very well. But some trimming of the strap have to be done to fit the hex screw part of the case.

Hello bro. The leg is slowly getting better. But you are right I will need some time to get back to comp fitness.

For the sd600 I strongly recommend the isofrane for a good and solid strap.

Of course a sinn strap will be better but that needs more work and the irreversible mod of an expensive strap.

But I have bought the sinn strap and working up my courage to actually cut it! Lol :P

This really looks good sia. I wonder how much does it cost. I was thinking of getting those white silcone strap for curve lugs. I think watchlooker one din last long enough.

Finally found a local deal after about a year of on-off searching and lurking on local forums.

Bought a couple just in case i bought a sinn u1 (again) and need a spare.

Also i don't want the name 'sinn' on the straps for my sd600. Each set of sinn straps come with one named and one unnamed strap. So I need 2 sets of straps to come up with one set on unnamed straps lol.

Got it from a guy on Sgroc strap sales forum. I don't think he is a dealer. I think he just happened to have the extra straps.

I recommend you check out the Sgroc strap sales forum every other day. Just might get lucky ;)
