[Casual] Camera Thread

[Casual] Camera Thread
I'm a Ricoh fan but I'm a noob at the same time, started out with a R10 & never looked back since.

IMO, Ricoh takes very good 1cm Macro shots.

Had it for 4 years until my daughter spoiled it, the lens was jammed...faint..

Had to look for other options, Ricoh is not easy to find locally iirc hence for a short period, I tried LX3, not bad but still wasn't up to my expectation in taking Macro pics.

Traded away after a few months of ownership for a Ricoh GX200, very nice old skool body but somehow, I just couldn'y synch with it, the 'feel' was different from a R10 although of the same brand. I realised GX200 is better for taking street photos in B/W format..

Ricoh GX200

I needed another camera with good 1cm macro :(

I tried Olympus but the scrolling menu is a hassle and the macro does not turns out well....then I tried a Canon SX1...worse, too complicated for me,lol

Finally, I went back to a Ricoh.

A Ricoh CX5.

Yes, I am happy now

for a P&S camera, I really recommend a Ricoh. Really.

Whoever want to try or buy a Ricoh camera can let me know, my fren still have a few Ricoh model FS.
Re: [Casual] Camera Thread
I have the GX100. Got it many years back. I don't find the macro limiting, the only "issue" is that the AF takes some time to "lock".

However I still find compacts with small sensor size a limiting factor, I still prefer at least a APS-C sensor .
Re: [Casual] Camera Thread
Since I got a DSLR, carrying it around can be a chore, that's why I think there's a lot of high end P&S cameras nowadays, targeted market, to be a DSLR owner 2nd camera.

Anyway, I felt iPhone camera is good enough, so don't really see a need for a P&S at this time.

Re: [Casual] Camera Thread
Am using a Sony NEX-7 and playing with old skool manual lenses. Maybe it's linked to my interest in auto watches... all mechanical, all the time.

Nex 7 has this peaking function that makes manual focusing a breeze.
