Most of the Russian watch factories has closed down and slowing production. You will noticed that Vostok Europe (which is not Russian btw) is using Seiko movements for Anchar and other quartz movement.

As for Poljot, same thing, Maktime has also ceased production. I can't recall the exact details, but it can be found in WUS.

Quite sad actually, so the only active and oldest watch factory will be Raketa, which did a pretty good comeback with very nice classic designs and other modern designs, of course don't expect it to be below USD100.

Thks bro for the info..

But how abt Bostok? Izzit still a Russian movement? Where wld u recommend to chk on Raketa models?
Re: V.E Anchar Titanium
Yes, Vostok or Boctok is the Russian watch factory, Chistopol Watch Factory.

From Wiki, "Vostok-Europe is the joint-venture company between famous Russian watch maker Vostok and Koliz company based in Lithuania."

As for Raketa, you can browse around here: http://world.raketa-shop.com/" false;

Lot's of wacky designs. lol

if it helps.. I went to the Ion branch to take a look once. Asked the sales person about servicing and repair and etc. He told me that if anything goes wrong or should there be a need for servicing we can just send the watch to them and their own people will do the service & repair. He claims that 'their own people' were trained by them to repair/service these movements. and yes he was referring to those that are made from that factory that supposedly went bankrupt lol..

thks bro.. so i gather the main concern wld b warranty + subsequent maintenance issue...

*gulp* Nice looking if a bit busy... but really?
Re: V.E Anchar Titanium/Lunokhod 2
i always want one VE for my collection, but never got the impulse to pull the trigger

the price tag for japan movement is kinda felt overpriced for me, i'd rather buy seiko divers
Re: V.E Anchar Titanium/Lunokhod 2
The VE anchar movement is pretty much like the Seiko 4R36, just that they rename as NH35. Function wise the same. In my collection, I have the red anchar titanium & green Caspian sea monster. Big cool looking watch..u should get one !
Re: V.E Anchar Titanium/Lunokhod 2
The Caspian sea monster was one of the 1st few watches to catch my eye. But ultimately decided that it was too big for my wrist. It'll probably look like a wall clock on me
Re: V.E Anchar Titanium/Lunokhod 2
yes, Caspian green sea monster is a nice watch.

It's big but it wears well on my 6" wrist.
Re: V.E Anchar Titanium/Lunokhod 2
Yeah the feel of wearing it seems tough n rugged but it has its elegant side. Though this caspian sea monster no longer in oroduction, parts wise is common to other vostok watch. It shouldnt have parts difficulty.
