I missed a good deal for a microbrand diver's watch from a US seller 2 days ago, then decided to post my virgin WTB thread in WUS for the same model.



Last night i received an email from a scammer from UK, wanted to sell me the same model with the same description and photos from the US seller i missed. I am pretty sure this joker from UK copied and pasted the text/photos from the US seller's sale thread and tried to con usd440 from me. :roll:



while i am still waiting for the corresponding email, should i ignore him or play along? :lol: Any suggestion?

anyway could it be that the fellow from UK bought the watch from US seller and trying to resell? Did you verify with the US seller on who he sold to? That will clear the doubt..

This is a common scam scheme, highlighted by WUS mods a few times. The scammer probably always register a new account with new nick targeting different WTB posts.



Key thing is always ask for a photo of the watch with the guy's nick written on a paper to prove that the watch is his.

No lah,bro. i am not a seasoned member in WUS. juz a lurker there. at time i can be simple minded and gullible. kena conned by local sellers before.

Yes i did ask for photos. he sent me the same photos from the original US sellers.



Asked him what's his nick in WUS...basket, no replied.

Jus an update.



Total email I received from the uk scammer : 5



My 2nd email replied and requested to discuss the deal via WUS. Silence and no more junk mail after that.



Also got a reply from the original seller, this is the PM.

this Nic Green character is a scammer. He's not a member of our forums. You will find a number of reports about him in our Watch Deals forum

Anyway on a serious note, I did notice a post in SCWF, so their recommendation to prevent such scams are, avoid posting your contacts on the forum so it's restricted to the forum PM system as a communication channel, so you get their nick and can see how reputable are they.



As the scammers know, if they use PM to conduct such scam, most members will flag them out and admin will flush them out.



Same goes in SCS, I limit the access of Buy/Sell to members with a certain post count, this is to prevent such nonsense and also weed out leechers and people who hang around for free lunches.
