The Apollon Chrono had been around for the past 1 year or more... although been eyeing for this to add to my collection, it's until now then i decided to place an order for it.



Just received this charming piece from the FedEX delivery guy, shipped from Germany after 3 weeks of waiting. Steinhart's team really had a big hiccup this time. The first disappointment was the delayed shipping, even though i had made an effort in sending the Steinhart sales team to check on stock availability, then confirm my order after receiving positive response from the sales team with immediate payment.



Unwrapped the box, i'm delighted to see the charming piece in front of me. However, the happiness was so short lived when i discovered that the other 2 bezels as well as the bezel changing tool as well as the strap changing tool was... short shipped!



Sigh... like others... i guess i'll have to wait for a certain period for the package to be complete.



Onto the watch.

The dial may be matt greyish, however when looked closely, the subdials are etched in and glossy!





This is a sandwich dial, with the lumed film under the dark grey dial. However, the only gripe i have, is that the index holes could be small in size, that the potential of the lume is not delivered. Still, under dark light, the indexes look like stars. I guess that was the initial size intended for the dial?





The size is big and high... but fits quite well for asian wrist even though i'm kind of chubby on that part. But that's not a problem, as i had bought another watch a couple of mm bigger than this... The only worries that i have, will be whether will i hit on concrete walls or other surface when i swing my arm around...





Movement wise, i would expect the 7750 wobble to be norm, however i could felt any. I wonder, if it was the weight of the bezel acting on the case even though the casing is light.





For the moment, the first initial impression ends here. Testing on the chronograph mechanism till going on. Will edit this post when my package is complete.

Changed to a black bezel, on the way to source for a pairing dark colored strap for the dark colored dial.





Trying out a Ash Black NATO



...seems to be working well... but there's no white stitch to match the white indices and hands... I'm not a NATO person as well...

Black bezel with black strap





All the greyish metals





All these... a precious keeper!





Don't know why... i still kinda prefer to put on the black bezel more often than the bronze or stainless steel...

How unfortunate the gold bezel didn't came along.



That is one of the steinhart that sings to me.



Great review and perhaps this would win over a few more to support this brand.

If u interested? Look around in SEIKO CLUB MART lah... There's one now floating around, because the black color does not click with the owner wor... :mrgreen:

I call to Germany immediately 20mins after i receive the package. Tell them regarding the short ship item, Judith from Steinhart was not sure also, the funny part, she sound like asking me, "They might have mis-packed?"...duh... :? : :roll:



So i tell that i'm going to place an order for the pairing titanium bracelet which i had initially missed included in the order, hopefully i can get the respective discount if she follow up on this issue with Gunter.S. Now still early... must wait till noon see if they reply to my email boh...

If i had ordered that bracelet together with the watch initially... it will just cost me an additional 45eu only, instead of 80eu as listed in Steinhart website. So far i only know that the bracelet can pair with APOLLON Chrono and APOLLON 3 hander dive watch. I don't think the TRITONs can fit...

TRITON and PROTHEUS case should be the same if i'm not wrong. The LUGs are much thicker than the APOLLON, which is slim and longer/deeper...

Gnomon stocks should be in in a few days time, if i'm not wrong. The individual direct orders are dispatched to SG 1st, bulk follows next if i'm not wrong, or maybe had oredi arrived, but Gnomon hold it back for QC first before releasing.

Gnomon stocks should be in in a few days time, if i'm not wrong. The individual direct orders are dispatched to SG 1st, bulk follows next if i'm not wrong, or maybe had oredi arrived, but Gnomon hold it back for QC first before releasing.


That will be great if i get to handle it this weekend at beach road but I am waiting to handle CEO's piece. :)

Btw, the package comes with a nice touch. 2 extra piece of lug bars are given, the end links are also packed separately to prevent shipping abrasions.

It is quite a common practice I've noticed with some ppl, but do you have issue with moisture getting into the watches?



particularly in a high humidity country that we are living in?

Actually you're not the first to ask me this question. The HongKongers @ HK forum oredi ask me the same thing as well... :mrgreen:

I dunno how to give you a clear answer. But my watchbox is often stored in the closet where filled with clothes as well as 2 containers of dehumidifiers to keep the roaches out...



I kept the crown pulled out to allow me to change the watches swiftly without making any big moves such as winding up, having to go a big round in adjusting time... etc.
