Soak, massage a piece of leather in warm water till the flesh side is rubbery, then stretch it over your watch head and hold it down. I stapled the leather on a piece of softwood. Let it air dry overnight.





remove the dried, hardened leather







prepare a template to cut out the watch cover (arrow shows the crown location)





cut it out





1.25" hollow punch to create the window for the watch face





test and check





prepare the base strap





put the watch head, the cover and the strap together and check





stitch from 9 to 12 to 3 o'clock and punch holes for snaps





install snaps





and there u have it. The watch just sits freely under the cover.





Big mistake: Leather used was too soft, the watch cover or hat was not stiff enough . Should have used thicker and harder leather.
