Alba Active Retrograde Chonograph

I was popping by bencoolen for a walk this afternoon and went into a watch shop. Bought a Yellow Frankenmonster but it was the other watch that caught my attention - a Alba Active Retrograde Chronograph.



First, Alba hasn't been in my book of good watches before but this watch caught my attention. Don't think it's a new series and it's a Quartz... Yes some might tell me ^%#]^{+{= why talk about a Quartz but it's really quite a nice watch. Allow me to share



First it has hands that resembles some pilot watches.... The minute hand is red lined over white. Clean 40mm width (excluding lug).. And runs on a Seiko YVD50 Quartz movement. It has 2 dials typical to a chrono watch and at the top 12 o'clock a gauge which I initially thought was for power reserved. I'm wrong, it's a chrono for measuring 0.1 sec! Moving front and back like a fuel gauge. (yes bros, some of you will be laughing at me coz only a joker like me expects a power reserve gauge on a Quartz watch)







It has a hardlex crystal and the body is brushed Matt SS which resembles the color of Titanium.. I thought "Wah! kio dio"... Of coz I'm proven wrong again by the sales. It is JUST SS.



The start stop buttons for the stop watch are nice, easy to depress and does add a bit of sportiness into the watch. It reminds me of some Seiko/ Casio racing watch like those HONDA BAR by Seiko. Also just to add.. It is relatively light, hugs comfortably on my 6.5 inch wrist....



I also didn't know that Alba.. According to the sales ... Is under Seiko Branding? Hmmm... Watch is nice and good as a daily beater. So after buying it... Thought of sharing it with others... My personal thoughts.. Frankly.. My view of Alba changed... Besides being known as a 70-80's brand that flopped ( my view), It does makes decent nice watches nowadays!



And last... It's back case etching has a similar wave design just as some Seiko divers!

Yes, alba, J Springs, lorus & pulsar are under Seiko umbrella.



Alba does have some nice designs :mrgreen:

+1 & I believe all SC bros do own a Quartz watch b4 including me... :mrgreen:

Agree. We need at least one quartz watch.

Finally got a flaw in Alba watches... Hahaha... The lume sucks.... Cannot compare to those divers watch... Very faint lume only.. But nevertheless, still can use. :D

my U1 lume oso suck big time, one of the worst, considering it's a diver

used my quartz to time moi wind/auto watches.
