Re: ETA based watches price hike ahead.
Wasn't this always in the works? It's been pretty clear that swatch has been clear about reduction of ETA movements for a while. Anyway it's already in effect until end next year and the real question is what after 2013? Think there's still time.

Yea it always been a rumor that non swatch companies can't buy eta movt in future and nothing seems to be firm as we still see non swatch companies with eta based watches.

Now with hard deadlines and quantity, perhaps the sellers will take this opportunity to up the prices of eta based watches.

I just speculating. :)

Hope to see more companies adopting non eta movt like the sellita movt.

A number of watch companies are already using sellita calibres and some like lum-tec are using gap movements already. Some Germans are using miyota as well.

Some bigger boys ate taking this opportunity to push their in-house movements and thus raise prices.

Using in-house movements would also mean buyers would probably need to go back to agent for repairs and servicing.
