this UK guy Dave, or David Smith bought my Seiko 5Y23 diver from me. He asked if I can make it a 85USD deal shipped to him when my original asking price was 150USD. I agreed then as frankly there wasnt any 'businesses' and I have to sell something. Besides I was about to go into ICT and hope to settle the deal fast.

He received the watch pretty soon in running condition and 2 days later(thats today),he emailed me that the watch wasnt running and wanted a full refund. This watch has been with me for least 1 year 4 months and its been running all well non stop and I have even solve the date/day setting issue as per mentioned earlier in the thread.It was running all ok,begin a thin 5y23 movement,it wasnt the most robust seiko quartz movt but wouldnt just die on you unless;

-battery flat

-buyer meddle with movement/crown or stem forcefully reinserting.

as with the 2nd reason on top,the inner gears are rather delicate and small. any forefully entry of the stem into the movement will damage the plastic parts inside. those who have quartz divers may knw this.

I agreed on his refund after he send to me. 85USD minus paypal fees minus intital postage cost that I paid. Thats fair to me.

And I will have to inspect the watch for any meddling /abuse signs before refunding him. fair to me also. And I told dave that if the watch can still run/ or show signs that its begin abused,I will retuen watch to him with him bearing the return postage. isnt it fair also?

Apparenely he isnt happy and told;

--------------------------------------------------

i will sell it on ebay as "faulty"

im not very happy about it. i guess i will put this down to experience.

dave

-------------------------------------------------

means he is threatening me with a negative seller's feedback? WTH is with ppl nowadays?

He wants money back ,I agreed. But surely he have to pay for postages right?

remember it has been running non stop for 1year 4 months. But he told me it died on him after 2 days... just died on him just like that?

+1 on your handling of this issue. Seems reasonable and logical

-1 for the buyer.
Re: WUS buyer ds99- dave
case considered close...I just refunded him 40USD nett on my own accord (and he get to keep the watch) to settle it fast,dont really have much time to wait for his resend of watch and those back n forth communications. thats all to make him happy.

lesson learnt....overseas shipping can be headache esp with quartz watches.

Re: WUS buyer ds99- dave
Selling goes the same as buying, buy the seller, buy the buyer.

If the buyer has low or no reputation, I rather don't sell, as I'm exposed to the risk of the buyer going back on his words, with Buyer Protection, the seller is on the losing end.

I'm always wary of buyers, as a seller, ask for references. I do get PM from time to time from other WUS members asking for an opinion of a seller.

Regardless the issue, it's always easier to deal locally.

Yea, so that's why you see some sellers refuse to ship to Singapore or outside CONUS, it's due to such cheats around. :(
