Another classic, all-time favorite album from James Taylor. Complimentary to TheChef's first album.

Metal heads won't go wrong with these.

Judas Priest - British Steel

Metallica - Kill 'em All

Get the earliest pressing possible. The remasters are jiam, deafening and not as dynamic sounding.

Damn good but also damn expensive. If you have a copy, must keep. Unfortunately, mine is a bit flaking (Japanese pressing).

Unfortunately, nice music often doesn't come cheap. There are far too many carrot head choppers around.

Can't blame these sellers. Although not stated, this album is actually a limited release. East Wind Japan issued only 3,000 CDs and 1,000 LPs The LP is direct-to-disk, so if you can find a decent copy, expect to pay an arm and leg.

I told you before, when I first bought this CD back in the 90s, it already cost over $30.

I got my gold disc version for $50 used, but in like new condition, from a friend who has since migrated to Japan.

The gold disc you have is the 2008 re-release. It was also issued in limited quantity. The original CD release was in aluminium discs.

鄧麗君 ~~ 你怎麼說

Most of 鄧麗君 albums now are heavily remastered to suit today's listeners' tastebuds. If lucky, you get a copy which is compressed to sound louder. If not so lucky, you get a copy with added salt and pepper, that, not only sounds louder but jiam and bassy as well. Simply terrible!

To hear 原汁原味, your best bet is to source for used Polydor/PolyGram, EMI, Life, Kolin (Taiwanese label) or Taurus (Japanese label) LPs or CDs. And never fall into the audiophile CD trap. It is a marketing gimmick.

Wow i didn't know of this. Does it imply to CDs like 10,20 years back? or only current released ones?

It depends. Like I said, if the releases are from the 80s to early 90s (she passed away in '95) and by Polydor/PolyGram, EMI, Life, Kolin or Taurus, most probably they are original.

Almost ALL of her new re-releases are remastered for the new audiences.

By the way, these XRCDs of hers are DEFINITELY remastered. These were mine, but I sold them in favor of the original version.

Re: what are u listening to right now?
The Universal re-releases are more true to the original compared to XRCDs and k2hd CDs. I don't think you can get the first pressings cheaply now. They probably cost more than $100 each.

A Lack Of Understanding - The Vaccines

Hahaha... People can buy a new Rolex after selling all their original first pressing 邓丽君 CDs.

Some of her CDs cost more than $500 per piece. But, if kenna corrosion can cry.

Circa 80's - Karma Chameleon -- Culture Club

Good morning!
Re: what are u listening to right now?
Also from the 80s, Don't Worry, Be Happy... I used to hum this tune very often especially when I didn't do well in a test or exam in school (or on the way home with my report book). I strongly recommend this album to TheChef who badly in need to unwind after a stressful day at work. This CD is hard to find but not expensive. I bought mine new from the former Borders at Wheelock Place for under S$20.

Simple Pleasures - Bobby McFerrin
