Contract expired, and thinking of getting a new phone. torn between getting a samsung s3 now (can still hop in the wagon of the 12g dataplan)

or waiting for the NEW IPHONE. Using a iphone 3gs, honestly the experience is very bad. call quality is bad, reception is bad. thought it serve the secondary function very well (entertainment), but it jus don satisfy the basic primary function of a phone.

Any input on this? or alternative to the above mention phones?

S3

Re: smartphone

Re: smartphone

s3 or htc one x

Given a choice, i would go for S3 as the battery is accessible. Not all HTC ONEs range of phones are battery accessible. Hence like iphone, once your 1yr warranty over, when your battery capacity* runs out, you're f@cked, as you'll be required to pay more than 2 blue bills to get your phone battery changed.

Depend on user also lah... if you're a gamer, multiple core processing power will be a need. If you're just a internet browsing folks, single core can do the job(in this case, bigger screen better). If you're just one another media enjoying folks, make sure the battery:screen size ratio concern comes into your mind first.

On OS, personally, i'm using Blackberry w/o BIS, hence there are lots of apps i'm not easily accessible. Considering that as a blessing also. iOS, y'all know huan lah... needs to be jailbreak to enjoy full hardware capability. Apps wise on par with Android. Android, currently is climbing up on it popularity. Some apps need rooting(aka jailbreak), but i don't see that need unless if you're really fallen with the marvel of those particular apps. Hardware wise, no restriction, but wrong firmware installed may cause your hardware to lost it's performance...such as fast battery power depletion. Windows, designed like iOS and Blackberry, with it's main focus on "security", needs "jailbreak" as well. Apps wise, not comparable to the Robot and the Apple as well as the Berry...

(*no matter which platform, blackberry, ios, windows or android or bada... smart phone batteries depletes fast depending on the apps you've install, your phone will need to be charged more than 1x in a day, as auto syncing is all day going on without your knowledge. Lithium Batteries comes with your phone are guaranteed to be charged roughly 300x max, or even better, 500x max, after that capacity depletes. So... with that kind of crazy daily charging frequency, no matter how big your battery maybe... still cannot tahan for ur 2 yrs contract period!)

Re: smartphone
It's better if you stick with Orleng lah... once you jumped to the red unbrella, you'll be crying. Coverage problem, hidden charges... more problem if you terminate problem with them.

In addition, i think u should have heard the news liao lah... The Green frog and the red umbrella are working together to bring the data usage of 12gb tie to the cheapest plan to 2gb... you say ley?
Re: smartphone
Am using the iphone4s for a couple of months now and well....... am looking to change to s3 :s
Re: smartphone
This year mobile trend will be big screen and fast cpu processing. So in the next few months, before x-mas, more models will pop up with larger than 4" screen, as well as faster cpu that clocks more faster than 1.4ghz.

S3 could be hot now, HTC One XXL will be not far away... Sony Xperia ION or something with lower price tag will also have good potential.

As mentioned in my previous post... i suggest all to look closely at the hardware specs rather than just looks and popularity...
smartphone
I don't have any needs so I'm just sticking to iphone. All novelty wears out in 3 months.

You get the phone, you customize ringtones, wallpapers, firmware and all the crazy apps.

Now I just call, message, surf and tapatalk. lol

Re: smartphone
i was a diehard bb user then i switched to android.

The number of apps i download in my first mth of using is more than the number of apps i downloaded on my bb which i used for 3 years. BB is a sinking ship and i believe cannot compare to android or IOS liao.

IOS to me is a simple yet user friendly OS. Android provides more customisation. What put me off abt IOS is the stupid itunes. For android, just plug and play.

Just my 2cents.
Re: smartphone
Couldn't have said it better bro.
Re: smartphone
It cannot be blamed that ex users of BB Will hv better impressions on android after they jumped to the next platform. this phenomenon also applies to new users of ios after some years living with BB. either android or ios, hv their bit of charms.. especially on the wide range of apps available from these 2 camps. but android hv a slight bit of advantage though... u no need to jailbreak to release the full potential of ur hardware, which in most case voids warranty.

I think it's all part of the ecosystem.

Back then it's Symbian. Remember Palm ? So many mobile platforms come and go.

I was a big fan of Sony Ericsson for the innovation in the phone hardware, camera etc. then along came windows mobile, it was a piece crap. Then HTC makes WinMo looks so good.

I was using touch pro for a while till I gave up on its stability, went to 3GS, now 4GS.

Over the years, I felt SE has the most innovations back then over Nokia. Esp the mega pixel camera race.

I wasn't a iPhone believer then, ip3 was crap. Haha

Nowadays I can't be bothered. Haha. I just want simple quick access to information.

When I was younger, I was always the first to change phone.

Still remember the motorola startec or something, and the nokia 8810, paid a really tidy sum for it when they were launched.

As I get older over the yrs, I changed phone when my contract ends. Now, I prob will get another iPhone. Too lazy to get used to another platform.

Re: smartphone
wah so many samsung & HTC users here! its a personal preference and I have friends who switched from iphone to android based of various brands and they switched back simply because they are not use to it. but my android friends swear by the android phones. Don't think that one is better than the other more like which you prefer more (based on your own criteria) , Apple or Orange lor. Happy hunting. :D

actually was using an andriod phone before using 3gs. must say call quality of the andriod is much much better then 3gs. thus, not say nv give apple a chance, but it jus don satisfy the basic functionality of a phone to me. or mayb ish only the 3gs chui and 4s wont have such prob?

I think reception is really bad on iPhones. My old htc touch pro can hold a call through the mrt tunnels. Back then there wasn't 3G in the EW tracks.

iPhone can forget it, always drop lol.

I have both the One X and the S 3 and although the One X is a good device, the S 3 is much better especially in certain key points such as battery life.
