Wanna support IanC? How much for locals anyway?

And..... are we up to doing a Club Watch? Have a factory manufacture for us.

coin edge bezel not to my taste leh,lol

if it's a smooth bezel, maybe I will consider ;)

Club Watch, very challenging, back in the HWZ days, we did proposed and I discussed with Harold(yobokies) on the customised dial + base watch but ultimately the idea was dropped as cost were high once everything were put together

It's about 4xx+ per piece :|

Luckily the China supplier does not play him out...

Re: A local GUy who customised his own watch
anyway, I've been to shenzhen several times.

if we wanna do a club watch, the most economical way is to adopt a non-signed case and bracelet of whatever fakes they are making, and just supply our own dial. They do "Sinn U1" there as well, so should not be difficult for us to do a Puck-esque design.

yah, U1 blasted case. Looks like the real thing, feels like the real thing. I compared it to my own U1 and they were horrifyingly close  Furthermore, U1s tend to have some inconsistencies in their dial prints, some with colour over-runs; so it is very difficult to tell a real U1 from a 油 one.
Re: A local GUy who customised his own watch
Seems like we are getting our very own club watch soon :)
Re: A local GUy who customised his own watch

Wow, that's interesting indeed. but are they reliable or just hit and miss type? As in may get a non working condition one?

Absolutely no idea.

The context of my post was to highlight that as part of cost control for a possible club watch, we could source for a watch case that some factory might already be producing, and since I saw a replica U1, a mould for the U1 case probably exists.
Re: A local GUy who customised his own watch
on a side note, I do not know if this has been discussed before (do pardon me if it was),

but if we were to engage microbrand makers would the QC issue be solved?

I mean since they will be taking care of it instead of us. Probably the real issue would be

if any of them would accept a custom forum order.

Benarus does, look at the OceanicTime collab with Megalodan ;)

Irreantum might do it as well but I'm not really sure

on the other hand, getting microbrand to customised a forum watch will definitely be cool but will the other SC bros agrees to the price ;)

Since its a CLub watch, wun a skx007 be better, as a base instead?

at least the link is there ;)
Re: A local GUy who customised his own watch
I am a supporter of using SKX007 as base. Much simpler. Now where's that thread where we discussed this....
A local GUy who customised his own watch
Well it's always a cost issue and I do agree we have to go with a seiko model. If we take the FF as an example, the total cost of a watch could reach $300.

So if we take a small number into consideration, the dial unit cost won't come affordable.

Not saying it can't be done but everybody has to come to an agreement with the price first before moving forward. :)

The FFF had Blancpain to inspire the initial designs, and of course the outcome was very very good. I suppose in order for our dial to garner support, it must be aesthetically desirable, and prolly should not have Seiko Club SG printed on it?

Bro, don't mind me asking, what is the quality we are looking at if we were to get at a better price? A hundred pieces as a benchmark?

Apologies for the double post, darn iphone.

Pertaining to herz post, would it be possible to do a dial as well as a case back? If so the case back can have all the info, like" scs project xxx/100" so something along the line.

If ya guyz want's to go with a forum watch project, 我高举双手赞成!

But we have to find a way to secure the orders from fellow brudders here in the forum, perhaps by asking higher deposits so that those who orders do not fly kite.

serious??!! SKX007 discon?!?
Re: A local GUy who customised his own watch
if the idea is concrete, we will need more planning

it's not a 1 week or 1 month job, it might stretch a fair bit of time if proj goes thru :)

dial design, base watch, ordering of watches & finding supplier to do the dial for us

Yobokies was quite hesitant last time when we wanted to put 'Seiko' word on the dial, he's worried about copyright & might get into trouble
Re: A local GUy who customised his own watch
If is skx than oni dial is needed mah...

If seiko word cannot than just put the logo of the anniversary strap loh...

Or the dial oni got the 5 o'clock n 6 o'clock markin...:)

It's definitely possible... after all, the 7S26 Monsters are on their way out as well. Time for the next gen of movements and dive watches!! :D ;)

......

But I must say, we're so OT here!  OT King to the rescue? ;)

Good on this guy for trying this. Musta been a fairly big investment with a reasonable amount of risk, but looks like he's made it work. $140 * 180 sellable pieces * 30-50% margin is not be a bad sum of money. :)
Re: A local GUy who customised his own watch
the indonesian watches mailing list ordered 100 group watch from vostock last year, and it cost each person, inclusive of delivery, less than sgd 150

this is the watch

but this group is seiko group eh? kinda weird if having russian product as group watch
A local GUy who customised his own watch
Ah the white radio room. First originated from the italian and wus forum.

Vostok can provide very affordable automatic watches with inhouse movt but it's a non seiko haha.
