Base watch for fff dial

Which seiko ,other than those in the snzh series, can be used as a base watch for the fff dial? I tried pvd stargate at k2, but that didnt work.

Why did it not work on the stargate? Incompatibility of dial feet, dial size...?

When goh first took out the stargate 329, we're very excited coz it looked possible when we put fff dial on the crystal, and the combination looked like a pucking sinn 857s non-utc :lol: . But when goh took a closer look, he said baysai. Then out his vernier caliper, measuerd the fff dial, and then the xtal, buay ngum! I suggested do away with the chapter ring, he took a look at the xtal then said cannot. Then, he looked at the 4 oclock crown, oso buaysai; only 3 oclock can do- this probably got sth to do with the dial feet, but i didnt ask. I left shortly after. :cry:

Saw the FFF on a SKX007 but I think his FFF dial might be diff.

Thanks solanum for the pictorial eg of fff dial in non snzh base watch. That fff dial is without date, so the dial feet position may not be important. Not sure abt this point .

The snzh watches uses 7s36 and crown at [3]



iirc all 7s movt have the same dial feet location.

And if it's only date display, it does not matter where the crown location is.



Bro, here is an idea for u:

Put the FFF dial into a stainless steel samurai.

The sammi uses the 7s36 movt and has crown at [3].

Yobokies sells the s/s chapter ring for the samurai.

One of the s/s sammi has black crown and bezel.

So u only need to pvd the case & caseback! Good yeah?

As big-e said, 7S movements should all be same dimensions. Issues with dial feet placement / date alignment should be the only problem, and can be solved with 'dial dots' / adhesive....



The Samurais use movement w/o day, the 7Sx5 family. That actually sounds like a great suggestion for the FFF.

brought snzf49 and srp025 and the fff dial to see ah goh again this afternoon. FFF dial didnt fit srp025 but it went in the snzf49 perfectly. Snzf49 has 7s36 movement and 3 o'clock crown.

So... Is it a question of the dial's thickness or something else? Interested to find out. Though, SRP does have a 4R15...

It was the diameter of the fff dial, ah goh measured it with his caliper again and said it was a little too big for the srp025. He took a look at the snzf49, without taking any measurment, and said that one was ok and went ahead swapping the dials with no difficulty.

Found on the net someone dropped a fff dial into seiko monster, but the dial is off by an hour, ie 12 o'clock is at the 1 o'clock position relative to the case. seiko monster has a 7s26 movement and a 4 o'clock crown.
