Re: Gnomon Watch
Set up a Paypal account (suggest to link it to your credit card for double protection) / then contact seller and if deal, he will provide his paypal account details and the total amount including shipping charges for you to make payment

Then you simply make payment thru your Paypal account and WAIT for shipment to arrive. I suppose you will not be hit be GST since the total is less than SGD400.

If you find this too much hassle; then go for a new one at Sky Watches, selling around SGD400 but without all the goodies offer by WUS seller.

Re: Gnomon Watch
When it comes to STEINHART Oceans watches, the price difference to STEINHART GERMANY is about a few red bills away. When the watches from other range gets listed with higher price tags... the more bigger gap it can get. Right now the EURO value is lower than SGD1.70/eu, is a good time to hoot from online. The savings can be more than 2 blue bills or so... for example, the DLC 44mm Nav.B chrono with caramel hands.

All my 3 STEINHARTs are from GNOMON. During that time 1eu is to SGD1.85 or so... although i'm paying a little more, but when come to after sales service, should anything bad falls upon the watches during 2yrs period... i just push the watches for them to settle lor...

I compared the non-VAT and included the shipping, the price of Steinhart Germany and Gnomon is about the same for ocean 1, but got ocean 44 GMT, the difference is 2 blue notes thereabout...

Hope some 2nd hand pop up some where...

Aiyoyo... mai ahneh gong ley... so far i only 3pc nia... somemore just started the collection last year onli... not really know too much about the STEINHART old models.

But to what i know, the earlier Ocean One Vintage Red is indeed comes with acrylic glass, not even mineral glass.

There's a possibility that the one put up for sale could be plastic...
Re: Gnomon Watch
When you purchase from the shop, you may (or may not) pay a small premium.

This is simply because you are buying the shop's goodwill: you can see and touch the watch, put it in your wrist and gelek-gelek a bit, ask the seller questions directly, talk-cock abit...

Usually a one-year warranty comes with it too.

Buying online may (or..haha, may not) be cheaper, but you won't know how the watch is until you receive the watch itself.

Serkali, the bugger doesn't move, got scratches, or worse, when open package - wrong watch. Then who you complain to? Then you gotto suck thumb and find a watchsmith (and pay again) for repairs or overhaul.

I have purchased both online and non-online before...but if the price difference is minute/insignificant, I'd go with buying from the shop.

MHO, only. Cheers.

Re: Gnomon Watch
Just to share my last experience with all on online purchase...

My last and recent purchase from the net is a UHR Chrono with 7753 movement. After placing order, the watch comes quite fast, rough count about 5 days from dispatch @ Germany till reaching SPEEDPOST in SG. Received the watch a little later, as i wasn't at home on the day of delivery. Then, when i finally received the package, unbox, didn't realize that the movement was lemon. So i sent back the watch to Germany on the following week, in middle of February... They received the package roughly comes to a month later, due to customs issues... anyway, long story short... they replaced the whole watch with a new unit with the strap that was shipped to me in the first delivery... then roughly another 5 days later, i got the replacement back.

Yeah... the risk is always there... when it comes to buying online. However, it is also up to us to choose carefully who are the seller at the other end before we go ahead to place the monies into the "bowl" in paypal. What are the sacrifice we can take, what are the risk we can swallow.

Don't forget... in between, the local customs are also the gate keepers whom our purchase/RMA piece gets taxed! To what i know, after reading some other posts from another forum, even if the piece of STEINHART we get back from the maker could be a repaired piece, it may get taxed if STEINHART declares the value of the shipment.
Re: Gnomon Watch
Ok, just to clarify on the shipping, I believe, if you kept the original GST receipt and documents, you can always tell customs that this is a repair, you already paid GST for it.

No confirmation on this but in doubt, just give customs a call and verify.

End day, every country customs just want to tax..

Re: Gnomon Watch
Any bros share their experience with Gnomon? Whether just browsing or bought a watch from them?
Re: Gnomon Watch
I bought all my 3 Oceans from Gnomon... shopping experience okay lah... not really very outstanding as there are some limitations there...

1. Price wise acceptable compare to Germany's competitive price, with a little charges extra to compensate the hassle of shipping and tax process if ordered online.

2. To get best price(bumping 2 or more red bills off), walk in customers have to bring cash along. No NETS trasaction there, credit card xtra charges applies.

3. First visit will not be pleasant for those with high service expectation. Sometime the gal/lady/madam(??? dunno kaw-in oredi or not), will show some kind of "sulky" face. But after you made the first purchase, they recognise you... further visits will be smoother liaoz.

4. Compare to those who had bought from Germany straight... Gnomon DO NOT give extra leather straps as free gift like Gunter Steinhart @ Germany does. So don't expect got "special gift" lor...

Bought three pieces from them: Botta Design - Tres Automatic (Stopped selling, as they wanted to concentrate on sports models), their house-brand Dievas Vintage 3646, and Steinhart - Military Ocean One.

Both Anders and Christine have good sense of humour and service is good. Straight talkers (both of them), no B**sh*t sales talk. Can do, they will do it. Cannot do, they will be honest.

I like it that way.

I remember one time that I have friend urgently needing a present, and Anders made special arrangment to open on Sunday (they are usually off) just for a sale of two watches.

He closed shop immediately after our purchases as he needs to rush off for other errands. I was terribly impressed with that.

Their choices of NATO / ZULUs are very extensive. Highly reccomended for all Subs/Military/Sports watch fans who wants a new "life" to their time pieces.

Cheers,

To all fellow brudders here who wants to get STEINHART @ previous price.

Now that Gnomon had made public announcement that they're going to make price change on this friday, in addition, all should have witnessed that Steinhart Germany had raised their price on most of the watch models. It'll be hard to get a good price for Steinhart watches right?

Fret not... I had spent some time looking at other e-tailers, found that both

http://www.steinhartwatches.hk"http://www.aramar.nl/E_home.html" rel="noopener noreferrer">http://www.aramar.nl/E_home.html" false;

price had not changed yet.

Happy shopping!

Looking thru the Steinhart Germany site, the price of increase ranges from 20 to 50euros. The divers, Ocean One mostly up by 30eu, the chronos up ranging from 20 to 40euros.

No idea about Gnomon yet... perhaps check on their site again tomolo morning after 1200hrs?

Go Gnonom Molest then, buy online...sounds like the recent scandal of the 40 men the underage ah-lian man.

Jokes aside, it all depends whether you like the watch or not. If you like it and you think Gnonmon's service is good, then pay that extra for guarantee and buying from a shop locally for goodwill. An extra couple of 10's won't break your bank (I hope?)

I am the type who would pay extra for insurance, at least you can touch and feel the watch with the goodwill of the AD.

So, shoot me. I am Kiasi.

Thought I saw some of the Vintage Series in a shop in Bras Basah, next to Prestige Time (near UOB / Cheers) on the ground floor. Wonder what kind of profit margin would be offered the local retailers.

All the best to Anders his babies la. Like all business, watch business is tough!
