sigh... chemical splash on mm300 bracelet
not so long ago, i was doing some tests for customer and forgot to take off my mm300.

even though i had on gloves, i think the bracelet edge got a drop splashed onto it.



i cleaned it up straight away, but damage is done already :(



so now, that particular link will show some surface corrosion on that exact spot!!! :evil: :evil: :evil:



i did some fine sanding and polishing on the weekend to see if i was able to remove a bit for the surface.

so for now, only wearing mm300 on rubber.



sigh... i hope the sanding and polish worked... if not then gotta source for new bracelet :cry: :cry:

i was trying to remember what chemical it was, but i cant remember :evil:



but i was reading up on stainless steel property and the s/s surface oxidizes with the chromium and forms a 'protective' layer.. .i'm not a chemist so i am not sure how accurate this information is.

but if the chemical could have been 'trapped' under this oxidization layer and continue to corrode.. so thats when i decided i will sand off a bit of the surface and clean it up.



hoping it works... so far no corrosion yet *fingers crosses*

these type of corrosion will 'bite' into the metal and probably stay there forever unless a certain depth of the metal is taken away by filing,brushing or some other metal.. its same with some heavy pitting with rusting..



but big-e bro,the spot quite small and unnoticable if I remember correctly...

like what Oosimm mentioned, the spot is quite small and i just need to wipe it every few days to take away the corrosion forming.

it doesnt affect the functionality of the bracelet, but its just annoying and tedious.

(and breaks my heart that it is my mm300 bracelet :()

maybe paste a small colorful sticker over the bracelet part or something to cover the spot? :lol:
