Hello Guys,



just to showcase the shrouds my vendor made for me.



Guess which is the original and which is the crispy.







The finishing on the Sbbn007 has a matt finish that doesn't show any hairline grains. I dont know is it the correct term. I dont think it is a beadblasted finish either because from what i know beadblasting will create a rough surface.







When I bought my 007 tuna, it already has signs of polishing from the lines i saw on the surface. I couldnt get the correct finishing on the surface from the pics below too.



As for the black one, it is a coating call black zinc. I had it mounted on a 7549 tuna. The original 7549 tuna shroud is shorter than the bezel insert when viewed from the side, whereas the sbbn007 tuna shroud is taller than the bezel by 0.5mm thereabout. As this black shroud is reverse engineered from the 007 shroud, it is now taller than the bezel.













Pertaining to the finish, I'm not exactly a chemist so the characteristics are unknown. All I know is, it is intolerant to acid and will bleed when in contact. I have not tried it in the rain. I do not know how would it withstand chlorine in a swimming pool either.







So this business can start or not? :lol:

Cos the rubber/plastic shrouds is wat stopping me from getting one. :lol:

i did think of this. Yday i was looking at my red sardine. The area near the lugs seem to be hugging the lugs itself. I dont know where can take out or not.



must wait for a courageous bro to dismantle first. :lol:

Nice, but u might to try it out in rain, swimming pool, seawater ...

Also, add shrouds for the 600m and 1000m tunas, seems like the newer ceramic shrouds have a tendency to crack when dropped ...

if I'm not wrong need to remove crown to remove the shroud together with the screws ..btw ur custom shroud how much damage?

I like the 7549's shroud as is, that little bit under is nice. Still, another option is good, if you really looked at this seriously, I'd probably be your first customer for a SS variety (the acid thing is a bit unnerving...)! One small question; is your fabber able to slope the raised portions of the [color=#000000]bezel[/color] shroud? Do think that adds to the look quite a bit.

Oops :oops:, meant raised portion of the shroud (fixed), right as it raises for the 3-6 section and the 9-12 section. Having a straight cut there just don't look quite right to me... but that's a minor issue only. very nice job.

Thanks guys for the replies. This is just a prototype. I don't have plans to make it into a business la.



As I only have 2 tunas, the 7549 and sbbn007, I am unable to reverse engineer anything out of this 2 models. Maybe until I earn enough to own more tunas. Lol.



I hope to bring some for sale during the april meetups. But that is when the designs are more or less free from any flaws. The ones I have are not of fantastic finishing nor perfect fit. There are minor scratches here and there. Not the type of finishing coming out from seiko factory.



I probably can get perfect finishing out from my suppliers but at what cost, I don't know. These 2 pieces produced is not a lot cheaper than the original one quoted to me by Luka-san from sctp, but I hope a bigger production run can bring the cost down.



Meanwhile, let me be the guinea pig and run the real world test before anything concrete comes about.

Hi Sell Bro. Gd job done w reverse engineering. If u do it w some help free, it does help to brińg e cost dwn. It's nt e cheap option but if u intend to run at high production no. I am sure it's all worth it!



Regarding bead-blasting, finishing is not necessary rough n can achieve really smooth finishing. Sinn does a gd dull low light finishing. My work requires bead blasting services but only two types-Plastic media Blasting for Paint, dirt n rust removal or Dry/Wet blasting w aluminum oxide for finishing or surface preparation. Result will be a low light finishing but different frm what Sinn watches r. Probably it's e type of media used.

U meant the 90degree cut right? Thats exactly why i positioned the shroud for the pics.



If u guys notice too, the cut for the crown is also not 100% accurate. I will probably rectify these 2 issues in my next shroud.

Just a head up bro, once u CNC the material it's became bare & you need to treated back if not they will corroded!!

It's chemical surface treatment, every raw material have their own treatment depend on which material you use. Either they discolouration or corroded if not treated!!

Not sure of EP or EN???
