Enlarging the springbar hole for leather strap
guys, i jus bought a normal 20mm paros strap from ah goh. i wanted to jus play around with diff strap combin and for jus in case purposes, i asked ah goh if the leather strap i am getting from him can fit a far spring bar. He said shouldnt b a prob and i went home with it. However, when i tried putting the spring bar of my monster into the paros, it cannot fit at all. I tried enlarging the springbar hole of the paros with some screw drivers, but only manage to put it in till halfway. I think if i really use force, i can put the whole springbar in? but the next question, how am i goin to take the springbar out if i wan to change strap?



any advice on this? should i keep enlarging the hole with screw drivers so that it is easier to put and take the springbar out? will it spoil the strap?

Use the screw driver to really dig the hole of the leather strap and u wikl get it in.

hmm, if i keep digging, do i have to worry that i will spoil the strap?

From my experience, use a small round "file" and slowly work your way to widen the channels.



Might be hard initially but slow and steady ;)



Guess those D & T classes in school did come to good use!

Eh...i think fat springbars cannot fit paros...

yeah, learning it the hard way. now i jus stuff the fattest screw driver in the paros, think goin to leave it overnight so it can expand or what :?

If u can manage to squeeze a fat spring bar in it, u will face issues if u wan to remove it in future.



Put a bit, just a bit, of oil, on the springbar n push in . U will take out easier in future oso

Alternative is as jake said, but cannot use normal springbars, as they will mess up the lug holes on the watch. You'd need to find SDF (stair(?) double flange) springbars, which are as thin as regular springbars, but have the ends of the fat springbars size (~1.1mm).

yeah, was afraid of the taking out part. cant find my ky jelly. will go get it and try putting on the springbar before stuffing into the paros.

is it easy to find? if not worth the effort and i still cant force the springbar into the paros, i might jus use the strap for other watches. and i din know this kind of springbar exist! tks for the suggestion :D

It'd be hard to find locally, don't think normal watch stores would have them; perhaps K2, but even that I'm not sure if Mr. Goh'd keep these in stock.



They are fairly easily found on fleabay, but no idea how well they will fit. I know that WJeans on some of teh international forums used to sell them (shipped from Canada), but not sure if he still does, could always check with him.
