Hi Guys



Do any of the watch repair Gurus in Singapore also replace the seals and Gaskets when they service vintage Seiko Divers like the 6309 ?



How about pressure testing, is that also available ?



Just curious because I have a 6309 that I would like to get fully serviced.



Pressure testing is not essential, as I am not going to be swimming or diving with the watch :mrgreen: but I would like to get it "Water Resistant" enough so that I don't have to be worried about gettng it wet from washing my hands or in case I get caught out in the rain :D

most watchmakers can repair seikos, just for what price and are they willing to do it.

( why i say this, cos 1 watch maker i went, famed by his father's name, when i ask he does vintage seiko, he replied me, mostly rolex only, well, thats his choice)



Its a simple job to them, a 3 hand movement with day date.



Pressure testing, the above 3 dun offer at all!



Gasket change is also a simple thing, just change gasket w/o svcing maybe a few dollars only?? Open case back, remove o ring, change new and put back, less than 5 mins.

Depends on which gasket, caseback gasket is simple. Crown gasket can be a challenge. Need to remove crystal/glass to change the gasket there ....



Most repair shops don't carry the gasket(s), u'll need to get them yourself ...

Hmmm..seriously considering whether I should send my 6309 to Jack Alexyon at Industrial Watch Works (IWW) in the US.



Cost for servicing will definitely be more, than if done locally (IWW automatic movement servicing starts at USD $95.00....but it includes fresh gaskets and pressure testing and a 1 year warranty).



But I just love the Dial on this 6309 (especially the toned lume and crisp red "Water Resist" text (seen very few with this original red still visible)...

Yup, definitely agree..I will keep this one as "original as possible". A crystal change is likely.



I did initially play around with the idea of possibly getting the hands relumed to match the Dial Indices..but decided against it as the hands are original to the watch.

I've used Jack at IWW before. Sent in my aquatimer for a refinishing, beat blasting and servicing. He managed to get out a very obvious ding in the watch, so no doubt about it, his handiwork is good.



Do note that the turnaround time is quite long. I believe it took 9 months for my watch. I wasn't really urgently needing it so I didn't chase or anything, but it's something to note if you want it back soon.



Personally I think there is no need to send a 6309 there. Its a straight forward movement and any respectable watch repair shop in SG should be able to sort it out. Just make sure they replace with new gaskets etc to ensure the water resistance.



I'd only use any of the US guys if its case work, mods like pvd, cerakote etc...

yeah, i will suggest a new crystal and gasket.

some light polishing should be sufficient.
