Accuracy of 8L35 movement

Accuracy of 8L35 movement
Now with the withdrawn sale of my MM, I am interested to find out how accurate is the watch. I did a search on the web and found for 8L35 movt, +/- 10 sec per day is the norm :o

Is this correct for this movement? I did a quick check on my watch (24 hrs) and it is +5 sec. Is this good?

actually, I can't really be bother with how accurate as long as I runs and keep good time. How about the rest of you that own the MM? Like to hear what's accuracy yr watch is running :P

+5sec is good.

Mine has been running +10sec from the time I put it on to the next day when I put on again.

It's always +10sec no matter what position I put it in overnight.
Re: Accuracy of 8L35 movement
really depends how well you want the watch to run, think +-10 secs is on paper. you can send it to good watchmaker to regulate it to better specs but might not stay within the specs for long.. your 5 secs is very very good IMO(if its been running at this rate all along)..

magnetism,dropping/banging of watch on some hard surface,method/duration of wearing and left unworn all affect the accuracy rate its running..

but heng I am not very particular abt it... as long as it dont run haywire..

Mine had been always running +10secs no matter what position I left it overnight for the past 1 1/2 years !

Your + 5secs is pretty good ! :)
Re: Accuracy of 8L35 movement
Well, I only time it a day. Let me run it for a few more days to check if it still +5 sec. But since most of you guys get +10 sec, I am not surprise if mine the same or worst :?

I was told the 8L movements use to be more accurate a few years back.

Same with the GS. :?
Re: Accuracy of 8L35 movement
Mine is running at +12 secs a day. But the movt is abt 10 yrs old I think.

How much to service a MM? I was told that it could be > $700. I am really surprised. I did a full service of my IWC doppel chronograph in which they send back to Swiss ... That's only <$700. how could a seiko be this ex.
Re: Accuracy of 8L35 movement
Yups thats pretty much how much it will cost if u send it to thong sia. 600 plus for full service, plus another 100 for postage, this is all not inclusive of spare parts.

If not you can always send it to ah goh, he will do it for a fraction of the price

Let him share, not sure how much will TS charge if they ship it back to Japan.

so far mine is spots on but I don really go time it in plus or minus how many seconds.. Iwc doppel at so cheap service?how long ago? Hmmmmm... Mm300 to send back thru thong Sia is consider pretty ex for a Japan watch IMO and somemore no polish include :( service for mm300 by ah Goh will be under $200 for now :)
Accuracy of 8L35 movement
Just post this thread and ah Goh called me say my watch repair can collect already :) also check with him for bros here regarding the charges for mm300 .. He say charges quote depend on how many gaskets are being changed.. Price from $180-$200 ... .D
Re: Accuracy of 8L35 movement
Given the prices they charge, wonder what the Indonesian AD would give on a full service (which would obviously be done in Japan...). Perhaps you can get some cheap JetStar tickets? ;)

That's a reasonable price for a service.

Yes, I did my service from Richmont just end 2010 and it took 2 ~ 3 month. Afterwhich I was given a 2 year warrenty somemore for the watch.

Smilarly, I did a full service of my sumurai with Thong Sia and it cost me $75 and it cames with 6 month warrenty (which I think is fair).

Has anyone did a service with Big Time?
Re: Accuracy of 8L35 movement
Pulling up a really old thread...

My MM300 was running +8 in the first couple of months, but ended up at +15 after running in...

Sent to TS for regulation, the watchmaker mentioned he adjusted 6 positions to +/- 10...

Currently after 3 days, it's at -5 daily...
Re: Accuracy of 8L35 movement
Judging by what you guys said I must have struck gold then. Still +1 per day as long as I am wearing it / putting in a box and +3 while the winder is turning it.

Really envious! TS watchmaker just didn't want to regulate it to better accuracy... :(
