State of Collection 2011 (why we don't need another watch!)

State of Collection 2011 (why we don't need another watch!)
How long have you been collecting?

How big is your herd and who's in it?

How do you keep them?

What is glaringly missing from your collection that you'd like to add next year?

Remember to bring everyone out for a family photo

I'll kick off.... 17 years, from a recount over 200 pieces, affordable geek watches to overweight solid golds, simple analogs to complicated digitals.... watchboxes, NTUC plastic bags, and Daiso boxes

collected for about 7 years

plus minus 300 pieces , nothing much of value , just interesting (design and function wise) trinkets from years gone by

keep in ziploc and throw in cupboards and drawers in room , some in those plastic multi slot drawers from mustafa, the rest in safe deposit box

would like to add the following next year:

1. universal space compax

2. favre leuba bivouac

3. angelus chronodato

4. gilbert gi joe

5. citizen diamond flake

1. Roughly about 15yrs ago... initially started with 25hrs and ESPRIT watches. Full steam roughly about 10yrs later, when income gets better, with SWATCH IRONY Chronos, SANDOZ autos, TITONI autos, small number of SEIKO autos(the FLIEGERS only).

2. Mostly in their boxes, until this year when i see the degration on my TITONI boxes... shifted most of the higher priced hunts to better watch case.

3. Something with moonphase... although there are tonnes of quartz models available in the market. Got somekind of passion with Mechanical makes... but the price... too cheem liao lah.

4. Been trying to do so... but if taken from far to capture the collection in whole, other might not be able to identify the models. So far only on the divers only.

Re: State of Collection 2011 (why we don't need another watc
Q: How long have you been collecting?

A: Not long too, from 2009, when I bought my first mechanical. Before that, it's Fossil, before I met my GF, I don't even wear a watch since Pri sch.

Q:How big is your herd and who's in it?

A: Same answer as the collection status, " 100+, or there about. 18 Seiko, 15 Swiss, and remaining Russians from my early days of collecting through eBay shopping sprees."

Q: How do you keep them?

A: Plastic drawers

At my parents place.

Q: What is glaringly missing from your collection that you'd like to add next year?

A: A GS & a Ploprof

Remember to bring everyone out for a family photo

Russians are still the bulk of my collection.

Poljots

Vostoks

Vintages, mainly First Moscow Watch Factory, some as old as 1920s

Zlatoust Russian Diver (not an invicta clone or modern u-boat) Left with just 1 watch, sold the other and the depth gauge

Mix of modern and others, 4 of them gone already.

Seiko Vintage.

All photos are not updated, taken April 2010

A lot of missing pieces from the photos especially my recent purchase, monobloc Caribbeans, Doxa and other Seiko

If I only have ONE g-shock, it will be the one that you have picked. Good choice man. I think it represents every good and true about Gs, with a useful and sustainable solar upgrade

My wife constantly laughs (affectionately I hope) at me and my watches. She calls them my "tick-tick" friends. That's after I told her watches just tick, and do not tick-tock

Thanks man.

I really liked the classic g-shock look and feel. Especially the one Keanu reeves wore in Speed.

The solar advantage was a real plus in my books... It was my 2010 Xmas pressie from my wife.

   $20 casios can be quite fun to collect. Sometimes it is amazing how much features and thought can be packed into a casio affordable. And end of the day, a lot of casios are very durable and reliable
