Removing rubber strap on SKX007

Removing rubber strap on SKX007
Hi all, got a skx007 recently and am wondering if it is possible to remove the rubber strap without scratching the watch for someone with no prior experience? Read some threads online and have some mixed comments on the ''toughness'' of the rubber strap on the skx007, hence would like some advice to whether I should remove it personally (v afraid to scratch the watch!)...

And if so, is it advisable to use the thick flat end of a springbar tool, or the thin fine end of it to remove the OEM springbars?

Else, are there any reputable stores that can help to remove the straps? I know there's a list of stores in the forum but will it cost much to seek their help for a watch that isn't purchased from them? Have also read about some bad experiences from people bringing their watch to stores but they had difficulties getting the straps off and even scratching the watch... kinda paranoid haha

Thanks in advance for taking time to reply! :D
Re: Removing rubber strap on SKX007
fat springbar for a novice, will be tricky to remove.

even i have difficulties removing fat springbars sometimes, lol

there's a technique but i duno how to explain thru words ;)

scratch will be only on the lug area so it's still hidden when u wear the watch :D

Or just pay K2 a visit, choose a strap you like and ask Mr Goh to change for you. (Watch and learn) :)

It's easier to see someone do it than reading about it.

Here is a video demonstrating how to remove watch strap:

Thanks people for the help!!! :D felt the love.

I got it changed today @ the store which i bought it from online (beach road mywatcheshub).. the jeweler actually took around 5 minutes (fireal ups!!) to get the tough strap off..! i was watching intently with some sweat trickling down my forehead :o but yeah! got it done! I guess will have to practice it to ''get it right''.

i reccomend you modify the standard spring bar tool

i usually grind them down to a 20/20 degree mid v convex with japanese waterstones

thin edge way easier to remove spring bars but the convex gives in strength so it wont break
Re: Removing rubber strap on SKX007
For skx007 case, I use a victorinox pocket knife, slide it between the rubber and lug, push down (like cutting) with a slight twist towards the rubber side. Leaves no mark...
