Wah got 1 is i lik
Re: ** 28th Dec Hasty Gathering @ Vivocity Toastbox **
It was a small gathering to visit the Grand Seiko boutique at Vivocity but as we gathered in front of the boutique, it wasn't ready :(

Such disappointment, especially when they claimed to unveil today.

Anyway, we head for kopi and had a great session molesting the different watches. Today the swiss pieces stole the thunder :o

We have: (in clockwise)

Softup's Seiko Cyclops

CEO's Seiko Lego Chrono

My Omega Speedmaster MKii

Sellwatch's Seiko MM300

Herz's Omega Ploprof

belkelbro's Rolex Explorer

Herz's Tag Heur Super Professional 1000m

My Aquadive Bathyscaphe 100

First off, we have sellwatch's Seiko MM300 on the recently famous kelvar strap.

Next in line, we have Herz's Omega Ploprof 1200 on orange Isofrane, solid piece !

Solid feel, the finishing, bezel and crown action all top notch !

Dial close up

At the back, I recently read a Ploprof review, highlights were it's 2 piece case back and grooves for easy spring bar installation.

Helium valve

Bezel lock release

My grail.... *drool*

Then we have the Tag Heur Super Professional 1000m.

Very clean dial and hands, minimal patina.

Very good condition bezel too.

Monobloc case !! *drool* again..

Last but not the least, is belkelbro's Rolex Explorer

Small but classy feel

Very dressy

Signed crown

Signed bracelet

That's all folks, hope to have another gathering soon. ;)

I love that most of the watches are all of different straps and bracelets. Provocative yet looks simply beautiful. I just can't take my eye off the MM with leather! And the Mash on the Speedmaster... :D :D

Btw, I just went to read about the 8500, from my understanding, all you need is to advance the hour hand, the date will jump accordingly right ? So it's more like quick with the hour hand instead of the date wheel ?

yes, correct, a shortcut that is also possible in the rolex 3185/6/7 movement. But doing this means the hour hand spins quite fast over huge angles. Without the gearing to reduce the torque, it strikes me as a quick-set way to damage or wear stuff out also...

Btw sellwatch, where would be a good place to get the kevlar strap on your watch?

I found this site that has one with the similar look - http://www.globalwatchband.com/group/51/" false;

Think it'll look good on my oyster =)

Yeap correct. i bought the kelvar there. I organised a mass order back then to share the shipping cost. Your explorer is 18mm lugs or 20mm?
** 28th Dec Hasty Gathering @ Vivocity Toastbox **

Re: ** 28th Dec Hasty Gathering @ Vivocity Toastbox **

I think the basis of the rule(or findings) applies to all automatic watches across ,be it Jap,Swiss,German,Russian etc..

since its automatic with rotor turns to generate power reserve, then probably its meant to work and keep time that way.

as roo says, the handwind part is to kick start the watch...

that's why its automatic watch with handwind "feature"..

so not avisable to handwind fast or till full...few rounds can riao to kickstart.....

if the date gap like that,I wouldnt change the date riao ,leave it as it is...as long as it keeps and tell time...

since watch will be in rotation...

unless say the date gap isnt too much then will manual turn the crown to forward date...
