Is it a good time to introduce a forum moderator ?

I'm not sure if the forum needs a moderator, so far we are all well behaved users here.



Only main problems are SPAM posts ! :evil:



So, how about a poll ?

moderator with special limited power(spam control,also act as helpline to misc forum issues?)will be better since nothing serious we have yet in SCS and current 'admin' is doing a great 'bao ka liao' job (IT,moderatoring,administration)... but of course its your call...

I think wat roo means is a 'special limit' helper(if moderator is too strong a word to 'use') that different from moderators from other bigger forums..

I do not propose another fullpower 'moderator' as its pretty comfy and clear that we have the 'admin aka IT superman' and everyone respects the order maintained by him.we rather have a main moderator/admin for now. as what big e bro mentioned,the size now is pretty much manageable.



but wat if roo isnt around,went on leave,on vacation,something else much more important at work/home....and Seiko club begin hit by serial spammer like last month(in case those who didnt know)..

someone else(just one enuff) is needed to kick the bugger out and remove all spams...maintaining order.



not much of a chore as we all share the responsibility in maintaining this free forum(much thanks to admin)...we should help each other out and in this case,someone as extra manpower to share small load as 'spam controller'...

Actually I support the idea of another helper to sort of ease abit of roo workload as 2 pair of hands are better than 1.

I don't feel the need for another moderator, but ultimately, I feel it is up to roo7 to decide if he needs someone to assist him.

Yup, there's always members informing me via SMS or Whatsapp about it, if I'm not watching the forums. :lol:

Perhaps Roo can delegate tasks out if necessary, to some of us, to distribute specific loads that he is bearing alone at the moment.



Having a moderator at this stage may not be necessary, especially in terms of contents; in fact it may have the unintended effect of diluting individual responsibility to self-regulate when we formally confer this responsibility to moderator(s). The current situation is such that the self-evolved culture of the forum, in conjunction with the small group of regular posters, keeps the forum moderated and regulated. I find that this works well, especially when we allow the different personalities to balance things out.



Another advantage of not having regulation could be that we can allow this forum to evolve naturally in the direction the members wish it to go. My early experience moderating other forums is that inevitably, in the name of ensuring consistency in moderation, policies on contents have to be implemented. The problems arise when these content policies fail to be comprehensive (and it is virtually impossible to be comprehensive without being overly prescription).
