2 Seiko Watches Seeking Pros' opinions

2 Seiko Watches Seeking Pros' opinions
Greetings to all! This forum is the bomb as I gained alot of information regarding the watches and interesting tidbits just by casually browsing through, thus, I decided to join this forum. I am a frequent customer of Asia Timepiece which is located at sunshine plaza, which maybe familiar to some of you seiko club members as I knew this club through jolly chit chatting with the uncle there. The uncle is a very nice guy who chats and give comments on various stuffs. One day, a guy walked into the shop and wanted to sell 2 of his seiko watches to the uncle, uncle wanted to cut down his prices, but he did not accept. I decided to buy from him the as i find them to be quite interesting. I tried to google information on the 2 watches, but have yielded very few results. Would like to seek opinions of you guys! First is Seiko 5 with a movement 6309A, which I bought from the guy at $250, which uncle wanted to buy at $180 and secondly is a lady seiko chrous at $180, which uncle offered $100. Sorry for the wall of text!

Re: 2 Seiko Watches Seeking Pros' opinions
The first picture is commonly refer to Seiko 5 sports model... but I have never seen this dial with blue/red minute markers before.... and at a close look... I'm afraid the dial is a redial....

The second one is a nice seldom/hard to find Seiko Chorus... look alright to me but cannot recall if I ever see one with a cyclop crystal.

I must say if too direct.... u got a bad deal on the first one but not bad for a 2nd one....

Re: 2 Seiko Watches Seeking Pros' opinions
That's good to hear. I also glad that even Mr Ang knows about Seiko Club and share that with his regulars LOL.

As for your 2 purchase, I'm not sure if they are original or not, will probably need some reference for it thou.

Lastly, welcome ! :)
Re: 2 Seiko Watches Seeking Pros' opinions
Is the crown for the first watch correct? It looks under-sized?
Re: 2 Seiko Watches Seeking Pros' opinions
2nd one is nice and rare....
Re: 2 Seiko Watches Seeking Pros' opinions
i tink ur pic size is super big lor bro, maybe u can resize the pic to 600x 840?
Re: 2 Seiko Watches Seeking Pros' opinions
Genuine pieces. Congrats.
Re: 2 Seiko Watches Seeking Pros' opinions
The 6309 looks like someone played Lego with it. Crown too small and dial looks fishy. There should be a minute chapter ring there right?
Re: 2 Seiko Watches Seeking Pros' opinions
Gosufart bro...u regular at ATC?

curious did you asked for mr ang's opinion abt tat watch before you hoot or u fast hand fast leg buy from seller while in ATC?

I am not sexpert nor good at this variants of seiko as we know Seikos made so many of these hybrid(dress watches + diver style) and along the years ppl may change the parts themselves.. but for 6309 watch(1st watch),I have not seen or know if Seiko does make double pepsi cos not very logical for this design part.

Your watch's bezel and hands set is confirm all ok but regard the smaller style dial + pepsi inner outer ring,I am not too sure. It seems that the inner oute ring is another layer 'mounted' onto the dial? only can verify if you remove movement from case.

2nd watch looks nice but nt sure myself either cos never handle such version before.

Re: 2 Seiko Watches Seeking Pros' opinions
I may be wrong so dont bash me k...just my opinions after googling...

this watch 6309-8360 as mentioned in this thread is probably a mixture of 2 different watches,a Seiko 70m sports watch and a Seiko dress watch ,both having are 6309 watches.

1) when we google,most if not all compatible results will show the white and black variants of this mentioned 6309-8360 watch. It should look like this;

Note: dial details at 6oclock should tally with a 6309-8360...kinda 6309-83XX or similar.

This watch in this casing is meant to be a sports style watch(70m? resistant) hence you noticed the hands set ,it has the lume on them. And when hands has lume in them, the dial markers would have lume dots/square box/numbers on it too...logical point. The few examples of pics I showed above does have small lume box in each markers together with 'sports' words on dial, making this a sports style 6309.

Whereas the 6309 in question has no lume box in markers, double pepsi internal ring and I am not sure about the 24hr markers?

Dial details at bottom 6oclock stated 6309-8670 which is a dress version of 6309. This watch variant do exist. so why a 8670(dress) dial on a 8360 caseback watch(suppose to be sports version)? that is a big question mark to me.

so think a whole 6309 dress dial is transplanted onto this sports version 6309-8360 and pepsi internal ring is added to enhance look n probably cover any size differences of the dress watch's dial.

Mai bash me if I am wrong k...
Re: 2 Seiko Watches Seeking Pros' opinions

Re: 2 Seiko Watches Seeking Pros' opinions
the crown in the 6309 is definitely undersized.

the colorful chapter-ring is an aftermarket repainted.
