Orientstar

Orientstar
Hello all,

I was checking out Yeoman's blog and saw Orientstar retrograde in his post. Looks very nice but than he mentioned the price is close to 1K. What do you think of this watch? Worth the price?

Re: Orientstar
i tink it's nice if u're looking for a dress watch.

hoot & post a review for us!
Re: Orientstar
orientstar is a grade higher than the usual orient hence you're paying a'lil bit of premium for it.

if u like it, i tink u can consider.

if not, for that price, u can also try looking at other models, I'm sure with that budget, you'll be spoilt for choices
Re: Orientstar
The Orient Retrograde is well finished and has a classy look. I actually like it more than the GMT model. Only thing is, the case is slightly thicker than normal.

Seiko also has a similar model but it is double retrograde.

Yes, it looks beautiful and the price is reasonable I think? I have little knowledge about automatic watches and how price versus movement is justified. :P

I'm still searching for a good looking retrograde automatic dress watch. I'm currently wearing a Seiko landshark and a kenetic.

Thanks Yeoman! The GMT model has a more casual design compared to being a dress watch. I like both of them but I am a huge fan of retrograde, so I am leaning towards this model.

This Seiko is in one of my wish list but I think the price is a little steep, converting the YEN to SGD, which is about $2K (twice that of the Orient Star). :(
Re: Orientstar
hi bros, may I know wat is the function of retrograde? :?:

instead of the hand continuing turning in circle. it 'shoot' back to the begining after it reached the end of the counter...understand?

maybe other bros can help to explain in a better way.

You explained correct mah ...

Retrograde is used to describe a pointer-hand on a watch dial (often called a sub dial),

which returns to zero at the end of a set period. For example, a watch may have

retrograde date where the hand moves up a scale,

pointing to the current date - when it reaches 31 it will spring back to 1.

Hope it helps :D

Maurice Lacroix

damn beautiful pieces :(
Re: Orientstar
That's a damn nice watch! but I still prefer the Longines. :P

Anyway, back to topic. If in anywhere I can find the Seiko to be around $1K, I will probably buy that. Or else, with this budget, I think the Orient Star is my best choice. Anyone has nice retrograde automatics to intro on the budget?

nice watch, but I am not a fan of chronos. makes the watch look complicated and the function is not useful to me.
Re: Orientstar
Just molested this watch. Looks very good. Taka branch having 20% discount. 10% more if you have taka card. Tempting! :)

Is it cheaper compared to Big Time Sims branch after the 10% taka card discount? hmm...

@ruzmidah - sadly I never hoot the orient star chrono as it's over my budget..only managed to take a snap. priced at a whopping $3.6k+

I'm not sure how much is the price at Sims branch. But Big Time Taka branch after 30% should come just under $700.
