Re: Forum feedback for admin
this is to minimize the downtime of the forum.
Re: Forum feedback for admin
Hi Triton,Thanks for all your feedbacks, I really appreciate it.
Now for the buy/sell section is for members with more than 10 posts, somehow the permission wasn't configured correctly, so the newly registered like you managed to post yesterday and earlier. :)
I got it fixed but I won't want to delete those threads, so I leaving them there till the member reaches enough post count to enjoy the buy/sell privileges.
As for the feedback forum, now that I look at it from the main index, it is really confusing  Will do something about it.
As for hosting in US, I'm still monitoring it, the first few days was really choppy, somehow the server is kinda going up and down, the forum and my blog is hosted with A Small Orange, I'm very pleased with their package, service and support response.
If there's any more outage, I will definitely take it up with them.
Thanks again for the feedback and advise, hope you enjoy the forums here

Font size can manually adjusted at the top of the page above the log out text. :)

When replying with the quote function, is it possible for the system to include only the latest/last quote instead of all quotes in the msg?
Hmm this I gotta check. So far I haven't seen an option to do so, perhaps a mod can do that or a code tweak will take a look.

Hmm it doesn't automatically remove the nested quotes, you have to remove it manually.. hmmm need more tweaking..

I don't think can change permanently, the other way is to use your internet browser to up the font size, "Ctrl and +", although that may screw up the alignment.

Ctrl + and ctrl - to adjust font size at the browser level.
Re: Forum feedback for admin
personally, i think the nested quote are good. why? it allows you to track the entire conversation especially when doing buy/sell. to prevent any misunderstanding. i have encountered some sellers who will purposely start a new thread instead of reply with quote. why? the seller did not want to commit to the earlier agreement.
manually delete is troublesome. also not for those who do not know much about HTML codes.

Re: Forum feedback for admin
im not sure about having to manually adjust the font size. if it is adjusted once, it will be the same for all subsequent window tab font size. unless you are referring to this forum uses smaller font than normal. in that case, it could be the theme that is being used. just adjust the theme font size.
this is because, web browser will auto super cede all the preset font size that is dictated by the website.
i might be wrong about this. been awhile since i last work on such coding.

not sure what alignment you referring to. if can elaborate, maybe we can all put on thinking caps to offer a 'free cost' solution."watchlooker"

Agreed with expecting the forum users to remove the bbcodes is a hassle. Managed to fix it with a mod.
As for the font sizes, it's tricky, so far I tried, the font sizes seems to stay in the same session... gotta try it out.

sorry. i am abit lost.what is the result you trying to achieve with font re-size?

The forum has the font size adjustment on the top right corner, I think what watchlooker encountered is, after increasing the size, when he goes into a new page, the setting is gone.
So far for me, when you adjust the font size using the forum setting, it stays.
watchlooker, can you try it out ?
Re: Forum feedback for admin
ah. ok. i get what you mean now.as of now, it would be better for those who encounter issues, indicate what browser is being used. also, if cookies is enabled, etc. this would help the administration and/or IT personnel working on it to narrow down the cause.

interface can chage to other colour?
agree, if CEO is talking about the overall theme of the forum... though white font on black gives max contrast, somehow it's just too gloomy IMO.... but that's just me
glad it's moved to a permanent site, kudos to all who contributed to get this done, excellent effort!
Re: Forum feedback for admin
though quote fonts are sized smaller, they are not that visible against replies... a coloured background other than black would be better? either that, or use of quote envelopes?
thanks

Ah, it was the earlier theme, it's yellow, I prefer bright colors although most of the bright colors theme are not very nice.

That will be challenging as it requires editing of the codes. I will see what I can do..

Re: Forum feedback for admin
Yup, the whole idea with the 25 post limit is to eliminate free loaders, registering and post some sales thread and go MIA...Of course there are always privileges of continuous forum participation.. :)
Re: Forum feedback for admin
I made a couple of attempt to comply with your requirements to post a minimum 10 comments to qualify as a market participant. The last 2 posts were rejected without any reason/comment.
Why make it so difficult for one to participate in your forum as a market member?
I am a senior citizen who has retired for a couple of years and recently took up the hobby of watch collecting.
I found ur forum by chance and was was v keen to participate Yet u are trying to kill my interest.
I hope u can kindly reconsider.

Hi smokie,
We did not delete/reject any of your 2 posts recently, there were some posts(from other new members) waiting for approval for the past few days but I did not remember any were from you though.
maybe you can try posting again?
Re: Forum feedback for admin
Mr Smokie, what I think is a misunderstanding and Mods wouldnt delete any post anyhow but still theres always chances of man, machine(server) error sometimes especially when the moderator team are all volunteers + SCS forum free to use. Also SCS do have a range of ages of collectors, really young to retirees and of course both genders.
And Sir, I think everyone will encourage you to participate wholesomely, posts more and forget(literally) about the 10 minimum post benchmark. In the end, we can learn and share watch knowledges with one another, you get an increasing post count and able to post in marketplace.
Afterall, life in SCS doesnt ends after 10 posts counts or once you are able to post in the market place.
Hope fellow members can enjoy their stay here in SCS and participate(=contribute) in thread discussions.
:)
