The watch department at OG Orchard Point has expanded over the past year, granted about half the counters are more "fashion-oriented" brands that I usually don't check out. But they do have relatively wide range of Seiko, Citizen, Casio, Timex, Luminox.



The salesgirl for Seiko/Citizen/Casio had good attitude, but mediocre product knowledge, (which isn't a problem for watch fans).

I should've taken more photos to share... but here's a Citizen that has that plain layout that I quite like. (could be cleaner though)



I wasn't sure if radio-sync worked in Singapore, and whether it had perpetual calendar. Anyone can confirm? When I pressed the button A briefly, the second hand pointed to "NO", which means sync failed, but I don't know about outdoors.



In the end, this was today's impulse buy:



a Casio G-Shock GLX-5600 (non solar), glossy black, (would have preferred matte black).

After some googling, I wish I had gotten a GRX-5600 instead. It has a more detailed tide/moon display than the GLX-5600, and is available with "Tough Solar" and Full Auto-EL (instead of GLX's plain Auto-EL. The "full" means it is EL is suppressed when in bright lighting conditions).



Only problem are... can I find it in SG? and can I find it in a less crazy color?

My father wears that as his daily watch. He has been trying for quite some time, but no signal so far.

It seems GRX-5600 and others with the new tide graph are not available in "normal" colors...

btw the battery vs solar GLIDE 5600 tidegraphs have some differences



battery : 24hr CDT, 24hr stopwatch

solar : two 99min CDT, 1hr stopwatch



iirc a bro here said that the black standard dw-5600e bezel can fit into your battery tidegraph.

in case that bro is me (in the g-shock thread), the std 5600e bezel cannot fit the battery tidegraph - the buttons are in a different position. The surfrider foundation solar tidegraph is the only solar tidegraph I own, and the std 5600e bezel fits it. :mrgreen:
