After some counting:-

365euro(include shipping) x SGD$1.77(approx exchange rate) X 1.07(GST) => less than SGD$700?!
Re: Chiong Ahh!!!! Valjoux 7750 auto chrono falls below SGD$
That's a very good price for a no frills chronograph.. most of their watches are priced very competitively.

Why no one consider this series of chronograph?

Perhaps it's because that in true life, SWATCH uses C01.211 auto chrono movement that's not easily touchable since it is sealed in Swatch's plastic cases. In addition, Valjoux 7750 could fetch more returns than Swatch, due to it's high reliability.

To date, although TISSOT is also using the same C01.211 movements with their low budget auto chronos, i have not seen any threads in other forums talking about the serviceable capability of this movement.
Re: Chiong Ahh!!!! Valjoux 7750 auto chrono falls below SGD$
that's true.

I haven't had the need to service any of my chronos so far though, and perhaps because of that serviceability is not cardinal for me...

sic some of my chronos, some pieces sold liao, some not in the pic

C01.211 auto chronos are highly recommended to those who are thinking of adding auto chronos into their collection for an entry level head start. However, when time matures, perhaps after few other models acquisition, some collectors might find that the value of C01.211 watches are not as stable as the Valjoux 7750.

Given you a chance, now in front of you lays the SGD$700 Valjoux auto chrono, next lies the Swatch auto chrono with C01.211 priced at SGD$500, which one will you hoot first?

My money will goes to Valjoux first. ETA comes next.
Re: Chiong Ahh!!!! Valjoux 7750 auto chrono falls below SGD$
Btw, Valjoux is also absorb into ETA... you can see the ETA logo from the UHR photos..

no doubt abt that... but it's the movement that affects the value of the watch, which further affects the resale value of the watch itself.

C01.211 is still relatively new... it'll take it sometime to be mature enough to hold it's value, and build it's reliability...

True.. it's probably cheaper and easier to manufacture for ETA...
Re: Chiong Ahh!!!! Valjoux 7750 auto chrono falls below SGD$
Agree that movement forms a part of the value of the watch. Especially for rarefied movements. And yes, if I have to pick one I'm likely to go for the UHR.

Some additional thoughts.... I observed that for discontinued movements such as the seiko 6138, a great variation in resale exists. A 6138 flightmaster, a bullhead, a panda, among others, are valued by the market differently. The distinguishing factor is no longer the movement, but the sum-of-parts of the watch, including design of course.

On ETAs (including Valjoux family movements), a similar spread of resale occurs. An UHR for all intent and purposes uses the same movement as this:

But obviously the resale values are different. In the absence of established brand value, the movement plays an increased role in underpinning the resale value of a watch. But if brand value (which includes heritage as well) is significant, I sense that movement plays a less important role, and sum-of-parts value takes over.

The UHR does look like a good buy though, but the litmus test is to hold and feel the watch. Dropping a swiss movement in does not necessarily a good watch make. End of the day a valjoux is a mass market movement, and will command mass market resale value. So many watches use valjoux, and they must be distinguished by something other than movement alone where resale is concerned.
Re: Chiong Ahh!!!! Valjoux 7750 auto chrono falls below SGD$
indeed, branding does play a part when it comes to resale value. the history behind a brand plays a good part in withholding the value of the time piece.

when i put up a link for all, i wouldn't expect any interested parties to go for it, and buy with regret, or flip after a certain while of owning due to its less known brand.

instead i would encourage anyone who would be interested to put their focus on the reliable workhorse movement... rather than the brand or other things which may deter you from getting this bang of buck deal...
Re: Chiong Ahh!!!! Valjoux 7750 auto chrono falls below SGD$
I think the UHR-283 is a better deal for the same price. Comes with Sapphire glass while the UHR-261 comes with mineral

Anyone ordered any yet? I see a lot of enticing pieces across their range :)

Ed, possible to share with me (thru sms or whatsapp in my signature) a good place locally to buy Sandoz? I only know Bencoolen and Mustafa... I'm sure you have your lobang to get even better prices.

Baang.

My lobang oredi ended 2 wks ago when SANDOZ SG had revised their prices on the "submariner/yatchmaster" divers range.

Mustafa serves as a good place for you to check out the price. Then you go to Bencoolen to quote them the price you saw at Mustafa for further bargaining. You could get a certain amount off what you saw @ Mustafa.

Right now most of the SS "submariners" might cost you 7 blue bills, dual tone "submariners" 8 blue bills, dual tone "yatchmasters" 9 blue bills approx.

Bencoolen still offers the better price.

Okie... 261 is measured @ 45mm, how about that?

I couldn't determine the value difference on the lume or sapphire glass, where which is more costly...

261 is better decorated with lume, but sacrifice on the sapphire glass, in addition bigger case. (261 was originally priced @ 499euro before the price dropped into this low level)

283 is fitted with sapphire glass, but poorly lumed...

Hard choices huh?

261 looks a bit "crowded" with the Arabic Numbers and the orange doesn't speak to me. I like the simple design of 283, if only the chrono hands is blue not black, I am sold.

I see, thanks :)

I'm not going for the sports model. I'm looking at the "explorer" blue dial, and perhaps one of the stainless steel day-date (non diamond dial) silver/white dial.

You have any of those?

The price increase does not affect the other range such as the "date just" or "explorer" models. It's the best if you go to mustafa to find out the price first, then proceed to bencoolen, using mustafa's price as bargaining chips, to negotiate for the better price.

Better hurry than late...

Found this in a german site:-

http://www.trustedwatch.de/aktuell/uhren-news/10894/Uhren-von-UHR-praesentiert-Chronograph-mit-Schweizer-Automatikwerk"It is a sporty Chronograph, the German watch manufacturer presents watches from UHR just in time for Christmas. And with 45 mm case diameter and luminous numerals and hands in Orange, the model clock-261 is an imposing appearance. The Chrono is driven to the proven Swiss ETA Valjoux 7750 clockwork, which is clearly visible through the standard glass floor.

For these sports Chronograph, the price / performance ratio is to be expected very well like in watches from UHR. But soberly considered even this is an understatement. For this high-quality chronograph fails with only 399 euro record! Says be fast. The watch is limited to 100 pieces."
Re: Chiong Ahh!!!! Valjoux 7750 auto chrono falls below SGD$

Note that this item is not available from today onwards... no idea whether is it discontinued, or just temporary OOS.

Should you're looking for great bargain, check out the inital post.

Found this in a german site:-

http://www.trustedwatch.de/aktuell/uhren-news/11317/Uhren-von-UHR-startet-mit-tollem-Neujahrsangebot"A classical mechanical men chronograph with Swiss Valjoux calibre 7750 in stainless steel with a five year guarantee for 399 euros? This is not only an incredible offer, but also a much unglaublicherer price. But where's the catch?

At the housing? Hardly. It is made of antiallergenic 316 l stainless steel and the glass floor is included. So when the movement? The used ETA Valjoux 7750 comes from the Switzerland and has proven itself in many much more expensive watches. What is it? The glass? No, is a Sapphire Crystal.
