Re: service bullhead
Bro does goh knw dat u just buy frm shop n the seller also a watchmaker???

If yes than maybe imo is becoz the job might b slightly difficult but oni need some adjustment n if the previous guy cant fix it but now goh got 2 'eat bone' of coz he dun feel gd 2 repair it loh...:)

Imagine u buy a car frm XXX n giv him change timing belt, water pump n all other wear n tear items than the car mis-fire n u bring 2 ZZZ n the problem is just timing OUT...do u tnk ZZZ 1 2 reset the timing n just charge the labour???if is me i wont do it...:)

Anyway is just my view so bros dun hamtam me hor...
Re: service bullhead
I tot he ish Mr. Ho.... cos everyone I knw call him that name ley... but maybe that's a nickname? cos they say ah-ho ...ah -ho

think must ask ah -ho(mr teo) do full service or try somewhere else....nowadays send watch for repair must see ppl's face de.. jin sianzz...

say seiko club name also no use cos money is still the KING...

one thing abt ah-ho's shop is the lots of bencoolen shops selling vintages will ask him repair de..sometimes ask him 'rush job' becos customer goign to collect or going to sell out riao..but he should be able to fix the problem.

so everyone also tio lo.... means k2 not biased to anyone.

he did tell me svc is just overwhelming, he almost cant catch up .

what i did notice in this forum and the shop itself, if small problems, or worst, very tacky problems he forsee, he will try to decline it.

there was a "homage" iwc chrono recently, owner did not say it was authentic.

goh found out when he opened the case in front of the owner.

owner "admitted" and goh quoted him well above svcing price of a 6138( to let u guys have a ball park of the price), owner still agreed and wanted goh to do.

watch has snap back problems, timing problems.

when i saw the watch finally, timing was done up, snap back still intermittent, sometimes just cant snap back at all!!( means not even back to near 12, just no reaction when press reset) sometimes can!!

Goh said he took almost 1 day, took apart 2-3 times liao.

so i ask, likedat how to charge?? he told me bopian liao.

tell the owner, ask owner to pay what he feels is worth the effort. which in anycase is liao lui, liao lat, liao jin sin .

in between of profit and reputation, some of us got chop off lo. i also have 2-3 watches wanting him to do.

my last vintage seiko took him almost 6 mths , though i did mention i wun rush him or anything. It was long but the watch came back running well. i was satisfied.

(this same watch was svc by my fren's watchmaker, i went with him to send in the watch, he sold me soon, but the watch also died soon. no amt of shakes will get the watch started!)

so how??? we just dun have enough watchmakers in sg, not like HK.
Re: service bullhead
to each his own bro.... sometimes professional in this watchmaking profession is hard to find...and that is expected in these times.. the strongest survive in business and money making context.

Its not exactly about how jialat the watch is,example chrono problems etc but rather the professional handling of each customer...and checking out each problematic watch least by visual check of movt, play around with buttons/crown with customer consent and many more...rather than neber check anything, just based on 'can you repair this.....'....then straight away give the 'mai lah mai lah wa mai lah' face ... isnt that jin sian... we are not talking about money regard servicing but a help based on friendship over the yrs +countless helps rendered among them..

not too much to ask to help a 'friend'.......unless the 'friend' is only measured in monetary terms... need not speak much...some bros know what I am talking.,..

another experience i had with another watchmaker.

i been going to this barber at upper serangoon shopping centre since secondary school days.

started this watch hobby less than 2 years.

1 recent haircut, found out there was a watch shop within the old run down shopping centre. barber uncle say they do rolex.

took a look, very old skool setup, 80s look, small shop, watchmaking tools, old couple.

auntie was reading newspaper when i step in. uncle came out from the back room, exchanged glances, so i ask him if he repairs watches, his 1st reply, i do mainly Rolex.

looked around less than a min and left.

feels like jap watches are buy and wear untill spoilt and throw watches..... not worth his time to repair.

Found out later, this shop call xiao chun.

The actual history : K2 and Bigtime's fathers work for this uncle's father (xiao chun) in the 60s and 70s.

they started their own business later on. the xiao chun in chinatown and the seow chun games in jln besar were ppl who continued to use the name of the original xiao chun.
