Hamilton Khaki Pioneer Auto Chrono

Hamilton Khaki Pioneer Auto Chrono

Hi bros, i'm thinking of getting the watch above. Haven't really handled a handled a hamilton before, but i'm aching for a chrono and this looks really good with a customised H31 movement giving it a 60hr power reserve as opposed to the usual 42 on the 7750. The only thing holding me back is the resale value, which is pretty horrid for hamilton. Pls feel free to chime in bros. Thks
Re: Hamilton Khaki Pioneer Auto Chrono
I don't know how much this cost, but do know that probably for less, you can pick-up a good used 6138 or 6139 Seiko Chronograph (Bullhead, Helmet etc) from one of us here. And those have inherent value being column wheel vertical clutch chronographs. A good close example of a modern piece utilising the same would be the Rolex Daytona.

I'd give the hammy a wide berth, especially if it eats into my purchasing power for something else that i might really want.
Re: Hamilton Khaki Pioneer Auto Chrono
Thks for the info bro, haven't really gone to any ADs to check the hammy out yet, but i presume it will set me back ard 1.8k which is definitely more than a 6138 or 6139. Was aiming them a while back when looking for an affordable automatic chrono, but bro you mind explaining what makes a column wheel chronograph special?
Re: Hamilton Khaki Pioneer Auto Chrono
I would like to OT this thread since we're on hammy.

I recently handled a Belowzero.

Tempted but he wanted to trade my goldfish for it.

Any advice.
Re: Hamilton Khaki Pioneer Auto Chrono
in general hamilton is quite bang for buck as far as swiss watches go , quite happy with most of mine.

even better if resale is poor , go get a second hand piece at a super low price then
Re: Hamilton Khaki Pioneer Auto Chrono

If the piece has weak retail value, then can consider a preowned piece???

SALAH guys... sorry for the wrong direction given. Aiyoyo... belum minum, mabuk liaoz...

I had mistaken about the thread talking about VICTORINOX AUTO CHRONO...

Anyway, if anyone of you're looking into the competitive brand against HAMILTON, VICTORINOX @ the address mentioned have the widest range of selection there. Price not low hor...

Practically no preowned pieces for this particular model yet. Dunno is it cos its not popular or its so good that no one wants to sell it lol.
Re: Hamilton Khaki Pioneer Auto Chrono
This looks like some kind of pilot design...

If I may, here's one that pretty similar, probably cheaper than a 6138/6139 but manual winding and non-quick set.

Re: Hamilton Khaki Pioneer Auto Chrono
certainly for most hammy the resale value sucks for 1st owner...but also means you can try getting a cheaper 2nd hand one esp for WUS or overseas forum..

What explanation I can deliver will not match what you get by simply googling "column wheel" and "vertical clutch". I think you will find a lot of pleasant and informative reads!

Haha lazy to search bro. Anyway to tap on ur chrono expertise, what would you say is a good price for speedmaster reduced on the 2nd hand market(Wah lau the bro so fast hoot ur one during ur sale, i see sold le damn sian). There's this guy on SG ROC selling one for 1900, comes with box and all. Do you think its an acceptable price. Thanks again bro

Oh and on another note, dropped by all watches at wisma after work to see the hamilton khaki pioneer chrono. Molest here and there, doesn't look as good as it does on photo and the reset button jam sia.... quoted 2156, presumably 15% off retail, so decided not worth it...

Thanks bro, If i were to go for a russian chrono would probably go for the strela. Was considering one a while back, went to red army watches to see see. Think they quoted in excess of 1k. Where would you say is the best place to buy one at the best price?
Re: Hamilton Khaki Pioneer Auto Chrono
Basically they are technical terms, simply put, column wheel and vertical clutch chronographs are of better quality in terms of the overall movement design and technology.

In other words, they are typically more expensive than typical cam or lever actuated.

Good price is my price loh.   If you wish to pay extra S$600 for the box and all, you have to decide if it is worth the extra outlay. Remember that this is not a COSC chronometer (chronometer and chronograph different things hor), so there is no certificate that you're missing out on if you buy without box and "papers". I've put out more stuff for sale, perhaps you can have a look. (<==== sales plug again  )
