Serious thread....

Serious thread....
Since we have a reasonably up and running buy/sell forum, is it time we have this? Something like an itrader system on sgroc or a points system like sbf or arofanatics which can zap or up member's points anoynomously.

Is it gonna cost money if we add this addon into the forum? Would it bring more harm than good?

Lets discuss.
Re: Serious thread....
The shortcut way is to use the feedback section. I can look into this but may not have much time at the moment :)
Serious thread....
Feedback can work for good transactions within SC but negative ones? The mod will be bo eng being arbitrator wor.

I think there are many negative transactions in sc that are not out in the open.

I know chiu bo eng.. Lol... Thays why i put it here rather than suggestion forum. Just discuss nia.

I accumulated a lot there liao leh, and in fact some of my earlier ones from 2007 (iirc) expired.

On a less flippant note, I don't feel that such a system is necessary here, nor is it necessarily beneficial. Sg-roc is a platform that is heavy on buy/sell/trade, and the population is large. I only know a few key members there, but never felt at home. SCS on the other hand, is a homely community and perhaps it is best for it to stay as such, and not to be too systemised (or politicised for that matter). Having such a system can have the unintended effect of alienating folks who may be new, or create faultlines politicising the forum (e.g. the LB thread - I think Roo was correct to lock it). The notorious ones will spread through the grapevine (again because this is a community) regardless of the existence of an "ïtrader" system.
Re: Serious thread....
You guys really give me work to do

i try to see if there is ar.. no promises as this depends if software has such a mod or not.

Thanks for summarising this. I'm still a one man show and I don't intend to delegate any moderating functions as of yet as I'm trying my best to make this forum grow.

Which is also why I'm only introducing rules bit by bit, I don't want it to be so rigid like some of the other forums but you still need house rules to maintain a certain order.

End of the day, I just hope SCS remains a very homely forum with a close community.

Like you said it, negative feedbacks will be spread very quickly among the closer members offline, so nobody can escape low balling and trying to be funny here.

;) Let's see how it goes.. I might adopt the karma points system if they have it...
Re: Serious thread....
I understand where sellwatch bro's intention and reason for this discussion and all members feel free to chim in.

For me,I have my 15 cents to share...

I dont support such 'feedback points system/itrader' in this lovely homely forum. This aint sgroc nor any other forum. Its was built up by group of loyal seiko supporters from old HWZ EDMW days and now reached this standalone forum, isnt easy. Though there are some increasing lowballing,selling/buying disputes among local collectors but I know we from SCS have own ways to resolve, just like a small family.

We are not and cannot follow the way SGroc is maintained. That forum is much bigger than ours and have so much foreign visitors and huge membership whereas ours is like a small kampong,,,,u in need I help,U looking for this seiko ,I got lobang I let you know etc . SCS is much more smaller community and hope this community spirit will stay with us for long, even with increasing membership.

I support what bro herz mentioned ....' SCS on the other hand, is a homely community and perhaps it is best for it to stay as such, and not to be too systemised (or politicised for that matter). Having such a system can have the unintended effect of alienating folks who may be new, or create faultlines politicising the forum '........

*in a small kampong, the lousy unethical ppl wouldnt escape our eyes de..

I say we are 80% discussion /learning/lobang sharing and 20% trading? I just wanna say we are not any commericial forum, this is just a small kampong...so let us stay where we are now, some tuning of the feedback system may be brainstorm but adding a itrader isnt what I hope to see.
Re: Serious thread....
Didn't know my harmless rant had mushroom into such an extend..... a rant is just to let off steam nia lei...... life is too short to get all serious.... take it easy mah......

Ya.... the kampong spirit..... :D :D
Serious thread....
I agree with the homely community within scs. This was what it was built on in the first place.

I remember the first meetup at mr beans. Close knitted group and of coz we expanded in terms of population and sometimes it gets harder to control. The last time i checked, we had a commercial forum, we also had a feedback forum. There was an intention in the first place to grade members.

I respect all your value inputs and i was moved by it. My suggestion was merely a move to improve on the current situation we have. Absolutely no intention of alienating new members on my part but i couldnt say the same for other further members. ;)
Re: Serious thread....
yeah kampong spirit is what I always love....I like those malaysia kampong spirit since singapore no more kampong...just think when we are growing up,how neighbours take care of one another, how we play with the friends next door, lovely 80's for me(60's-90's for some)...the old Singapore spirit has dissappear, so dont wanna see SCS become another "new Singapore".
