Anybuttie faces this dilemma as me....sometimes?

Anybuttie faces this dilemma as me....sometimes?
last nite while lazing, trying to drift to zz..i had this silly thought of..

offloading ALL my watches...or maybe not all..will keep a few models

& jit tau hoot a preowned GS :( :(

There's this one time, my ex-boss(actual work boss), offered me 8-9k for all my Seikos cos he knew I always wanted to get a GS...damn tempting but sigh...i still turned down his offer ;)

I know I'm not one who will sacrifice 95% of the forest just becos of a tree :(

but sometimes, the thought is so tempting lor...sigh...

:| ;)
Anybuttie faces this dilemma as me....sometimes?
All for 1, 1 for all.

I will if it is me.

Ha ha ha!

haha,ok :(

but i cannot imagine wearing a same watch, everyday leh
Re: Anybuttie faces this dilemma as me....sometimes?
Yup, the thought is really very tempting if I was in your shoes. But the heart pain is there as you take a lot of time n effort to accumulate those pieces.
Re: Anybuttie faces this dilemma as me....sometimes?
I did think about this before, but the objective is not to reinvest the funds into a watch though.

*downpayment for condo

property investment..hmmm
Re: Anybuttie faces this dilemma as me....sometimes?
so for me the dilemma is beyond trading many watches for one, but rather trading them for something else entirely.
Re: Anybuttie faces this dilemma as me....sometimes?
sell all and get the GS you want....Once you get the GS, once you cross a higher bar , it'll be easy to decide to get lower end watches, i think. :)

better to siok now then regret later right.

haha, true in a way but for me, GS is always there as they are current products,

as a vintage collector, some of the models i have now doesn't pops up FS so ever often or rarely pops out at all ;)
Re: Anybuttie faces this dilemma as me....sometimes?
sell all, wait for the PIGS contagion to spread, by second or third quarter next year hoot property or some good undervalued stocks lor.

and probably in a few years' time you can get all that you sold back for free.

Downpayment for freehold condo is not cheap. Landed property magic best but also on the high high sky side. No looks to do so.
Re: Anybuttie faces this dilemma as me....sometimes?
had the same thought b4...wanted to hoot something last time...

I won't....very very heart pain to let go all for juz one watch....

Lunarin didi...u must know how to resist temptation lah!
Anybuttie faces this dilemma as me....sometimes?
I will never understand and I think never will I. :)

I am a 1 watch person. Ha ha ha..
Re: Anybuttie faces this dilemma as me....sometimes?
Let go ALL for 1 watch is very tough.

I know a guy who had the same thought to get a MM300.

He thought about it for 3 yrs then decided to flip 6 watches to get it!!

His collection only totaled 12 watches, now he left only 8 (he had a couple small hoots in between flips).

True story! ;)

haha, true in a way but for me, GS is always there as they are current products,

ummm, 'current' yes, 'always' not sure. say by the time the wind is out that gs will be discontinued and a new luxury line will be introduced (like Lexus of Toyota) then it'll be too late (ie cost a whole lot more) to hoot any GS liao

you have this nice dilemma because GS is within your reach :D , once it is put out of your reach, the problem is solved

Nice. straight to e point.
Re: Anybuttie faces this dilemma as me....sometimes?
This is what I feel about the MM300 (vis-a-vis Tuna). MM300 is a watch, while Tuna is a genre. I own tunas too but if I had to choose between either The MM300 or a Tuna, it will always be the MM300.

"herzausstahl"

methinks the MM300 is worth it... the precise accurate clicks, the smooth winding, the finely-finished bracelet, the monocoque case, the silvered date wheel, the unnervingly accurate movement, the gravitas of an 8-series marinemaster....

There is only one MM300, no fashion shrouds, no funky dial colours, no quartz.

To me MM300 sits in the "hallowed" company of uniques, watches without fashionable variants.

(ok ok I concede that for the ploprof there is a fashionable variant    )

I was in the same situation 3yrs ago. But I managed to hoot enough quality/rare pieces within that time and enjoyed wearing/owning those too.

Then this year realised if I flipped xx amount I can hoot MM300

(of course flipping to get GS is a whole diff price range)

Re: Anybuttie faces this dilemma as me....sometimes?
I say go for it if the GS is really the one watch u wanted.

I too flip my vintage rolex to fund my car. To me, nothing come close to my passion for Alfa.

Only you can answer the question.
Anybuttie faces this dilemma as me....sometimes?
I won't do that coz most of the vintages pieces are mostly rare.

May not be expensive pieces but hard to come by.
