Omega servicing exp!
Nothing better to do, called up Omega service centre to ask about servicing.

Supposed to do overhaul every 4-5 years, check movement, gaskets, crown, dial, hands, polishing of case and bracelet.

Leave watch with them for 6 weeks. About $600!

And that's for 3-hand quartz, if automatic or chronograph, plus plus some more.

Change battery (last about 18 months) - $55!

One pre-owned watch shop guy told me that Omega was the most expensive for servicing, more than Rolex.

Now I believe, faint!

I think I'll keep my 7s26 Seiko Diver...
Re: Omega servicing exp!
I don't think it is more than Rolex.

A Daytona costs about S$1200 for servicing...
Re: Omega servicing exp!
i was quoted 4 servicing a Ex2 as jump start at $790 onward...

You buy a 200-500 you pay 80-100 for servicing.

If you buy a $100,000 watch and somebody quote you $150, you better walk away man. Or he walk away with your watch lol.

lol bro aiken, $280 to service a 3185.... there's some wisdom in Roo's words. It's not a usual eta-style date auto.

Rolex's accuracy and longevity is contingent on the viscosity of the various lubes they use, one cent money one cent goods hor. Since invest in a rollie liao, why skimp on the maintenance?

why don't you just wear the watch for a while, then near future send in to RSC for a good spa?

When you send it in to RSC, attach all your links. The whole watch will come back polished and brushed as per factory.
Re: Omega servicing exp!
Siao liao lah...the plc aiken go is intro by me leh...

Anyway i got 101% confidence in the person i intro...:)
Re: Omega servicing exp!
After seeing all these $$$ figures, really put me off buying Rolex, Omega, etc in the future.

Dun even want to smell AP, JLC and VC (the Unholy Trinity - suck away your money!) - this is really a rich man's game!

Actually all this discussion only further confirms my view that Seiko offers the best VFM (Value For Money), donch you agree bros?

Now considering getting a SNA225 chrono :)

Best value-for-money is Casio F91-W. Bencoolen $12.

Is there a conceptually correct value-for-money ratio?
Re: Omega servicing exp!
best value for money is a sundial :(

I think it's not about the value of money. It's just what you invest and how you want to maintain it.

Put it another way. If you buy a Vostok for $80, will you pay $80 to service it ? Yes and no.

If it has sentimental value, $100 you also pay. If it's a web purchase, wear a couple of years, hell if it's spoilt, just get another one.

Of course if there's a tried and trusted lobang, by all means go ahead. It's like going to Thong Sia or K2 for Seiko servicing. ;)

One is a good local lobang and one is premium, that's all.

Re: Omega servicing exp!
Sorry, missed out PP, did not mean to demote it, so it's the Unholy Quadnity - AP, JLC, VC and PP

Although the Casio F-91W is great VFM (I have one of them), but the ultimate VFM is G-Shock DW5600 - can use to block bullets (just joking bros).

Actually, I am thinking of non-resin watches, so things like Seiko Divers SKX007/009/171, Black and Orange Monsters, the Seiko 5 series, astounding value for 200m WR for Divers, many autos achieving +/- 10s a day, compared to COSC -4/+6.

Even the mid-range like the Sumo (esp the blue), SARB range (like 027, 033, 035, 065) - absolutely stunning stuff.

I recently saw an MM300 in the flesh, and was actually underwhelmed. The first thought was "I'd rather get a blue Sumo".

Overall, I'm very impressed by Seiko, that's why we are here, right?
