Saving my Alba Anadigi =)

I always like to wear anadigi divers and started out with those from Seiko Arnies Variants(H556,H558,H601) but have sold them all a while back.

What got me rekindle to anadigi divers is actually the Chronosport UDT(underwater dive timer)type II anadigi watch(similar variants by Breitling-Pluton,Scubapro 200). These watches are made in 80's and were favoured and used by men from various elite units of the US military. Prices for chronosport type II range from 850USD onwards(scubapro similar) but much higher for breitiling variants. But to think of it,they are using only miyota Y652 as base movement. Certainly there must be some charm to it.



I had a old beater similar Alba diver style anadigi and that was supposed to be sold as parts. Bleeding LCD with malfunction digital clock(weird numbers appearing,not responding to button pressed).Nothing much that I could do except to let it go or find harvest parts for it.







Then I saw someone in a forum selling a nice Seiko Anadigi with H461 movt,that's using similar movt as chronosport UDT(similar design layout too). This is not a common everyday movt to find especially if its a sports 100 and a PVD variant with original bracelet. So I bought it and out of curiousity asked seller if he has the miyota movement I wanted.He does have a bunch and just casually told me that he will drop 'a few' donor watchheads inside the package. That's way kind of him ;)



I received the package yesterday with the watch I bought and the free donor watch heads. Later decided to fix up my Alba....... :)





Started with donor watch 1,wanted to use its working digital circuit board and good LCD without bleed.





tested the pulsar beforehand,seems fine .



stripped both apart...























and then reassemble the 'working' watch.....

















and it's 'done'!! yeah....













actully no ley...everything seems fine until I play with the digital chronograph functions...it went haywired even after a change of circuit board...

sibey peh chek as it took me few hours just to overcome various problems along the way... (disassemble->assemble x countless times)

heng among the few donor watches,there is still one with a working digital circuit board.



I went chill relax first then did the whole damn process again(no pics as damm pek chek)..stripped both watches and changed the parts..for the first time,it went well. All functions work(though lightbulb is dim) but still this saved my rare Alba anadigi. ;)

it should be the same,must know which point/lever to depress lor..cannot anyhow poke poke..

difficult part is to make sure all the LCD digits segments are appearing ,functions not jumpy,alarm /sound works ...all these after you reassemble them. If some problem occur,then have to disassemble again.. no shortcut.

thanks bros... this restoration is only possible with the kind help of the bro who sent me the donor watch.

heng that the analog part is still running in the alba beforehand(center part with coil),so no need troubleshoot else more work will be involve.



anadigi is always double work when servicing as compare to quartz analog or digital watch.



*imagine this same miyota movement was actually used in breitling plutons,scubapro 200,chronosport UDT....
