There is hardly anyone will spend 5K on a Seiko... except the "few" of us here. You know who you are who spend above 5K on a Seiko.

If I m given a choice to choose between Pam n seiko, I will have to think carefully liao....

I think if seiko create another brand for the higher end models, maybe it will fare better.

to spend 7k on a seiko, only true seiko collectors will do it. I can't guarantee saying I'll do it myself though I'm love Seikos(I have no funds anyway) but even if I do have the funds, it will still be a 50-50 decision for me. Ultimately, it depends on how you look at the watch imo.
Grand Seiko is actually the high end series for Seiko. There is also Credor as well :)

Side topic for GS, was surprised at ION city chain opened new outlet under moments, inside have quite impressive collection of GS and settings is machiam like THG or sincere pattern and the staff wear glove while handling the watches, jin satki And they even took the effort to wind every GS on display, I see liao almost want to fap on the spot :)

PAM, Rolex or GS...? I think no one manage to lay hands on the anniversary GS Hibeat which have the Lion medallion on the rotor plate. I think Boss wanted to get it but TS din manage to get one.

Few weeks back I was having my haircut and was wearing my SD Ananta Chronograph and surprisingly the nice lady who cut my hair noticed my watch and this is our conversation after she finished with my haircut:Lady: wah your watch very nice what brand is it?
Me: Oh, it's only a Seiko .....
Lady: but is so different unlike those ordinary Seiko I saw .... where do you get it and how much it cost?
Me: it cost XXX and has to get it from Seiko agent in Singapore.
Lady: wow, so expensive, can i take a look on your watch?
Me: Sure, no problem (i took out my watch, willingly let her molest ....)
Lady: no wonder so expensive but not many people will spend so much on a Seiko ...
Me: true, only those who siow seiko will do it .... (I told her watch is made of titanium, spring drive, bla bla bla .... I also told her about Grand Seiko...)
Lady: very interesting oh by the way .....
Later I found out that she is the boss of the shop and at the same time she is looking for a boy size rolex (2 tone, white face, without diamonds) ... gave her some websites and we end up as friends ... still helping her to source for the rolex watch though .... any bros got kangtao please help ... tks. :lol:
Conclusion: at places you least expected, people do notice you wore an "unusual" Seiko and it is always a good ice breaker to get to know someone that way .... :lol:

lol ok ok. Another analogy... some people measure petrol consumption by mileage, some measure by power output mah. There is the technical feel of the watch, and again there is the real-world effect of the watch. :lol:

GS is very ah pek watch, IMO. But still very nice.I saw SARB065 Cocktail Time, what a gorgeous dress watch for around S$700! Looks as good as Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra at 1/4 of the price!!
The SARB031 also very beautiful.
But for $7k, most people would buy an Omega Seamaster or Rolex Datejust for the brand recognition.
Grand Seiko is very much a connoisseur's watch. Brand recognition will be better if Seiko spent more money on marketing and celebrity endorsements!
Can you imagine Ken Watanabe, Yao Ming, Chow Yun Fatt, Michelle Yeoh or Li Na being GS Ambassadors? :shock:
